Why the **** have you got caps lock on all the time? DID ANYONE ELSE GET GT2 FOR XMAS OR CHANUKAH AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN ? THIS GAME IS SO FREEKIN COOL I CAN'T STOP PLAYING IT ! HOWEVER I DO GET THE FEELING IT WAS RUSHED A BIT FOR THE PRE-HOLIDAY RELEASE. SO FAR I HAVE OBTAINED ALL LICENSES AND ABOUT 51% OF THE GAME. SO FAR I HAVE DISCOVERED THE FOLLOWING BUGS: * FORD GT40 AND SHELBY COBRA COUPE ENGINE SOUND PROBLEMS, * THERE IS AT LEAST 1 PRO STOCK DRAG CAR BUT THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A DRAG STRIP. *NO MENTION ANYWHERE OF THE ADJUSTABLE LSD CONTROLS IN THE CAR SETTINGS MENU . * AND DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE SUPER LICENSE IS USED FOR( that i worked so hard to get! ) ? IF ANYONE HAS EXPERIANCED THESE PROBLEMS IT WOULD BE NICE TO HERE YOUR THOUGHTS .

Hmmm, I love both of those sounds. I just thought the GT40 was supposed to purr like that. Heck, it's one of the reasons of love that car. In fact, it's my favorite car so far in GT2. Got me. From what I've gathered fromt alking with others, you may have to pop in the arcade racing disc and see of the drag racing is on there. Or you may have to wind certain series to unlock the new races. Got me. I'm pretty sure there's a super license race or two on the arcade disc. I'll be checking tonight. -- |_ Oo\ Alex | Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si

> Loud stuff Snipped 1) Why are you shouting? Turn *OFF* caps lock, it annoys people, especially me! 2) Consider this helpful advice: Whilst I agree GT2 may be an excellent program, This is RAS (rec.autos.simulators) which concentrates on *PC* based driving simulation based programs, such as F1RS, GP2, GPL, SCGT, etc. While it is acceptible to post messages about pc based programs which are not strictly considered simulators, such as Motorhead, NFS, etc, it is *NOT* generally acceptible to post messages regarding *CONSOLE* based games. In fact I'm sure a flame will be along shortly.... 3) Try one of the many console based newsgroups or webpages for more helpful info. 4) This has been a public service announcement. 8-) *Peter* - http://www.cix.co.uk/~peterpc/home.html

I don't see anything wrong with stating that GT2 has raised the bar in console racing games and having played it I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys PC sim racing games, If someone wants to post about a game like that here I don't see why we should stop them.....its not like he is talking about Super Mario Carts :) Norm

Considering that GT and GT2 have simulation modes that can make many a PC game weep I don't see what you mean. After all, it says rec.autos.simulators. I don't see "PC" in there anywhere. __________________ "Welcome to America, the Great American Melting Pot!" (Pull handle to flush)
Peter, I for one like to catch info on the console games. I could care less about F1RS, GP2, GPL, SCGT, etc... I'm a drag racer at heart, and browse this newsgroup fro info on such, and to check out any relevant info on hardware, and consoles. Tom

Seconded. This is RAS not csipg.racingsims. If it is a sim, it has a place here (IMHO, of course). Further, I don't even play the NFS or TD series as they are far too arcadish for me, though they are discussed (somewhat) here. Yet, I bought a PSX strictly for GT. FWIW, I otherwise play PC sims such as GPL, N3, SCGT...

True enough. However, I think it is generally accepted that this particular newsgroup is used mainly for pc based posts. I'm not against consoles, or arcade type games (I own and use both, as well as pc's and sims), and I'm not trying to start a flame war. I'm just making a general point and trying to redirect the guy to a more appropriate place. There are many other more appropriate places to ask about console stuff than here. 8-) *Peter* - http://www.cix.co.uk/~peterpc/home.html

>> Loud stuff Snipped >2) Consider this helpful advice: Whilst I agree GT2 may be an excellent >program, This is RAS (rec.autos.simulators) which concentrates on *PC* There is nothing in any RAS charter to suggest that this ng is either targetted at, or for PC's only, or that a title appearing on console automatically bars it from being a sim. Z. Please remove my_pants when replying.

> There is nothing in any RAS charter to suggest that this ng is either > targetted at, or for PC's only, or that a title appearing on console > automatically bars it from being a sim. Fx: sigh! Did I say that there was anything in the charter? Or that console stuff is banned? No. Count how many messages are posted here to RAS. Count how many are console related. You will find that only a very small minority are console related. Therefore, *GENERALLY* most posts in this newsgroup are PC biased. Thats *ALL* I'm saying. Got it? Jeez!! you try to be constructive and helpful? why bother eh? *Peter* - http://www.cix.co.uk/~peterpc/home.html

Is that not exactly what you implied? This is your message to which generated the thread: _____ > Loud stuff Snipped 1) Why are you shouting? I don't "imply" anything, I say what I mean, or at least I try to. I didn't say non pc posts are banned, I didn't say there was anything in the charter re: non pc posts. I know what I posted, I don't need reminding, cos it was me that posted it! Heres the relevant bit.... The even more important bit there I think,, seeing as it was my post, is the word *GENERALLY*, get it? No, probably not. Your interpretation, not mine, and as it was my post, mine counts. Carry on trying to light the flame war if you like, I know what I mean, and I hope that *most* other readers on RAS do to. End of....... *Peter* - http://www.cix.co.uk/~peterpc/home.html

Not trying to carry on a flame war and while it's nice that you know what you mean obviously the rest of us read what you wrote. That is the one downside to the internet is that without voice inflections and such it is very easy to misinterpret what is meant versus what is said. Quite often what my odd sense of humor intends to relay as humor ends up being taken as serious, etc. In this case I simply read it as what you wrote which implied heavily that discussion of console games and such are highly unwelcome and if you had your say would be banned outright. That might not be what you meant to write but that is how it was read. __________________ Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. It seems a bit snobbish, not to mention bossy, on your part to unilaterally decide that only PC sims may be discussed here. If it is a good car sim, then this is a very good place to discuss it. Gran Tourismo 2 is a game worthy of exposure to those who may not have ventured beyond PC sims. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!

GT2's engine physics is no better than SCGT

FX: yawn. FYI, I didn't say that, try reading the post (thread) again? Whatever... Peter G

While we're on the subject of GT2.... I have GT and now GT2 and have pretty much exclusively play only those two racing games/sims on my Playstation. Otherwise, I'm a PC driver having a lot of fun with Nascar3, DTR, GPL, Nascar Legends and SCGT. I have found that after driving with a wheel on the PC for so long, I absolutely can't stand driving with a hand-held controller (even the dual-shock controller) on the Playstation. I just don't feel as though I have the same kind of control as with a wheel, and for me it's not immersive enough. My brother gave me his old Mad Catz wheel for the Playstation a while ago, tried it a couple times and found out it was worse than the dual-shock controller. Not being able to drive with a decent wheel on the Playstation really turned me off of GT, and now that I have re-newed interest with GT2 I'm hoping to get over this hurdle. I'm getting to my question... be patient. I'm thinking about buying an Act Labs Force RS wheel with RS shifter and Playstation cartridge in the near future. Now... my understanding is that the FF will not be on when using it on the playstation. My question is, has anyone actually tried the Force RS on the playstation, and how is it compared to say... an old Mad Catz wheel or even the dual-shock controller? I think I'd have a lot more fun with GT2 if I could find a wheel for the Playstation that I liked. Thanks for your time and input! Dave Ericson MomoBoy online JDB Racing
I have the Act Labs Force RS as well and got it working with Bleem! last night on GT1. The problem I experienced though was that the steering was either all the way left or all the way right. Is there a way around this? Same with the accelerator. They all act like buttons... David Cook
