Am fairly new to GPL and don't get to spend a lot of time driving. When I do I am also fairly slow, 1:31.xx at Monza. The most frustrating thing is getting those horrible slippery starts and first couple of turns under my belt as the AI cars simply drive away. I am left alone to drive at my unremarkable pace with no traffic or much to do but limp in with my 9th or 10th place finish ( out of 9 or 10 cars). I know the challenge is to race and beat the best but I found that my temperament hates to lose over and over with the little improvement in my racing. I downloaded AI Tweaks from [link lost in import] is so cool to be able to race with someone. I think this ground has been covered over and over again and I know the veterans may scoff at the idea of slowing the AI but for the newer racers who have a similar temperament to mine it is the greatest. I adjusted the AI to be just a little slower than my best time. It doesn't push you to go ever faster as it could with the times set a little faster, but the slower settings let you practice passing in traffic which invaluable. I don't plan to keep the AI slower forever and will boost J Clark's time slowly till I can't keep up again, but for now it is a refreshing break and I highly recommend it to the newer drivers. Happy New Year All.

What settings do you actually use in AI Tweaker? I found that HYPE settings do NOT change the speed, only the speed improvement by the AI cars. Also with some changes in GPLseason, I noticed Clark would be fast on one track and slow on another track... KARL
I use the "Overide AI improvement / Track editor" option to set the percentage of original speed for each track on a track by track basis. Mind you, I use this to speed the AI up ;-) Cheers, Richard

I agree. It is also good for drivers that are just not fast (like me), but still want to enjoy racing GPL.

My current girlfriend, Julia Roberts, won't allow me to do this.

The AI Tweak is a very useful utility and one which has aided a great many people. It's the perfect solution for having a competitive race without having to become a master racer. Especially with Grand Prix Legends putting a priority on faster AI cars, so that even if you reduce the number of opponents you race again, it won't make much of a difference to your position. In fact, you'll probably end up further to the back as you're racing against the best of the bunch. And it's not just for the newbies either! -- Best regards, The Phoenix
LOL! 'Tis true though.... GPL's AI don't slow down enough whilst learning to be consistent but they don't speed up enough either once you can run without having offs. I also don't hotlap much any more so my PB times are usually very close to what I can run for a whole race. Cheers, Richard
<snip> I'm thinking either the 1.1 or 1.2 patch changed this so that when you reduce the # of cars, instead of just peeling the dogs off the back like it used to, it pulls cars from throughout the grid. That way, you still have Clark in the front, but you also have a BRM and a couple of Coopers way back.
