GPL dropped from Sierra site listing; calls for CART sim
A poster noticed a URL redirecting to Sierra's site and others claimed GPL had disappeared from its sports listing, though it was later found under motor sports. The thread became a debate about whether Papyrus should make a modern F1 or CART sim, with Joel Willstein saying Papyrus people had stated Sierra had no interest in another open-wheel sim. Side jokes covered grammar and ice-racing sims.
Automated summary.
hum...and GPL is not listed anymore in the Sports section...I think were on

Don't want to be the one to burst your bubble, but no one is even
thinking about doing one, especially Papyrus/Sierra.

A comma may optionally be used to separate 'contrasting' parts of a
sentence. An action and a timeframe are not the same thing, therefore the
comma.

Speaking of this, there is a newer HR "sim" out which a friend of mine
quickly snapped up. It is very disappointing at best. If I can remember
the name I'll post it as an FYI opinion.

Why do we want a boring F1 sim? GP3 is coming, that's great
for me. But, I want CART. That's where the best racing is! :)

I love ALL kinds of racing so any real sim will grab my attention! Even
horse racing sims!
More appropriate for the time of year (in the Northern hemisphere at least),
would be an ice racing sim. Now that really would be fun if the physics were
up to it.

Screamer 2 on any track... I think they *must* have been thinking ice
when they coded that one.

Oh I do think a CART sim is LONG overdue.! I just like the road and street

I don't doubt that within a few months of N4 appearing, it will be hacked
and patched to the point that we can drive touring cars around the
'Ring. There are some brilliant people out there in Internet land. They
can provide things that Papyrus is unable to (due to marketing pressures).
Funny thing for me is, I used to be a big ICR2 fan and scoffed at the
NASCAR sims. Then I imported a few ICR2 road courses over to N1, then
later bought N2 and used the Pits touring car patch. ICR2 has never seen
my harddrive since. I lost interest in Champ racing (can't explain
why) about the same time, so that may explain partly why I gave up on
ICR2. Until SCGT came along, running road courses in the Papyrus NASCAR
sims provided some of the best close racing in a sim - I preferred it even
to TOCA as I could place the cars more accurately on the track.
I have no doubts that N4, with a few tweaks, will provide just as much
fun. But of course I can understand those who still wish for a CART sim -
it's been 5 years after all.

Agree...

Strange, isn't it? Growing up in Toronto, and even as recently as the
late 80's when I went to University of Toronto, I can remember big
blankets of snow *before* the New Year. Something is definitely shifting
in the global climate. However, with all the frigging freezing rain they
now get in Ontario, I imagine an ice driving sim would be *very*
appropriate. Maybe add the option where you have to wiggle the joystick
back and forth for an hour before driving to simulate scraping away teh
inch of ice on the windows :)
Stephen
