DTR lockups

I just purchased a new computer AMD Anthlon 600 128 Ram Diamond Viper V770 Aureal Vortex2 SuperQuad Dig. I can't run anymore than about 2 laps before the game freezes. I end up having to re-boot. It has done this with and without the patch. Anyone else have the same problem?
