I have an P5-233 system with a Voodo2 12 card and installed the 1.2
upgrade from GPL. The upgrade made it totally un playable as the frame
rates seem to burst. I subsequently reinstalled 1.1 and have been
happy with that.
Recently I just had a cable modem installed and downloaded the
latetest oval converter. I would really like to try racing online with
WinVroc but found that everyone there is using 1.2.
Has there been a fix posted for this problem. I recall a while back
that people where reporting this.
I had the same problem, I disable my modem in Control Panel -> System before
playing GPL and the framerate problem disappears. It's still annoying
though, why should the modem interfere with the framerate of a game?
Ian
Strange but I thought I would give it a try. I disabled the modem in
"current hardware profile" but I still get the video bursts?? Are you
running a cable modem as well?
Thanx
Rick

I posted a while back about having this same problem but found no cure nor
very many others who were experiencing the same problem. My system P233,
64 meg ram, VooDoo 3 2000, SB Live. 1.2 is totally unplayable unless I
turn everything down to the bare minimum. I am upgrading my system soon
but am very disappointed and frustrated that an upgrade can kill the
playability of a game. It is equally frustrating knowing there are but a
few others with the same problem and no fix in sight.
Haven't tried disabling my modem, nor will I, as this doesn't seem to be a
relevant cure and the only reason I have 1.2 is to race online - with my
modem of course.
Let me know if you find a fix.

seems it might be futile but have a little extra time and would love to get to
the bottom of this.
