Ok, where in the GPL manual does it show the points earned during a championship season? I know what it is *today*, but didn't they give points for more than 6 spots in 1967? Eldred, No, they only gave points for the first six places, but they only gave 9 points for first instead of the 10 they do today.

Nope, still only six places, but only 9 for first. They also dropped the drivers worst result from the two halves of the season, so only 9 of the 11 races scored points. Kevin Caldwell Calgary, Canada

Is that why GPL never post my first place win at Silverstone? I never get any points for Silverstone. I've dumbed down the AI, so I can win, and it doesn't add my points from Silverstone, it will show that I got first place, and even that I got my 9 points, but it doesn't add them to my total.
Leaky_Valve 29 Dec 1999#511213
There was also a situation in force where the season was split into two sections and only the best 5 races of the first half and the best 4 of the second half (or something like that) were counted.

Got it. I see why I missed it now. I was looking for a 'table' of sorts, and they just snuck it into a paragraph... Thanks. Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Own Grand Prix Legends? Also drivers don't score points if they finish a certain percentage of laps down, even if in the top 6. Not sure what the exact percentage is though. So if you came 6th in a 15 lap race, but were 3 laps down you probably wouldn't get that 1 point.

Well, that SUCKS. Why penalize someone just because they're several laps down? Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Own Grand Prix Legends? Goto http://gpl.gamestats.com/vroc Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you with experience... Remove SPAM-OFF to reply.

Actually, that rule still exists in modern F1. One has to have driven at least 90% of the race distance in order to get qualified. On the one hand this means that one doesn't get points is he has driven less laps, even if he comes home anong the first six. On the other had, this means that if less than six cars reach the chequered flag, the last car(s) that dropped out will get the remaining points if they have driven 90% of the race distance. This happened in Monaco in 1996 (the race that was won by Panis; only three cars finished the race) greeting, Han Monsees ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- drs. So in that instance, the third place driver got 10 points? 1st - 10, 2nd - 6, 3rd - 10(4+3+2+1) Must be nice to score as many as the winner... Strange. Err no, 3rd place got 4 points, 4th place who was Frentzen got 3 points even if he stopped his car in the pits a lap or two from the end and 5th and 6th (Mika and Irvine I think...) got 2 and 1 points even if they crashed into each other a few laps from the end. The idea being that they did get points even if they didn't finish the race because they had covered more than 90% of the race distance. -- Arne Martin
