I've only tried the LWFF, but I love it! Warlock! > OK gang What's the best FF wheel out there for around $150.00.
Are there any "head-to-head" comparisons/reviews of these two ? John -- John Hartridge [email hidden] GTX_SlotCar wrote in message ... >Act Labs Force or Guillemot Ferrari, no doubt.

Act Labs Force or Guillemot Ferrari, no doubt. Slot "Dan Bourget" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:UBw74.16201$[email hidden]... OK gang What's the best FF wheel out there for around $150.00.

I have only tried one as well, but really love the Microsoft FF wheel/pedal combo. It works with every game I own (except the old N2 and possibly the DOS version of ICR2 (comments, anyone?)). Depending on the game, the FF effects range from subtle/non-existent (SCGT, TOCA2 where all you get is rumble strips and wall bumps), to integral to controlling the car accurately (GPL, natch). The optical/digital control surfaces require NO re-calibration, and the profile configuration software bundles with the wheel makes it easy to customize controls and axes for different games. The pedals support split axes for gas and brake (really does make a difference for games that support it). The clamping mechanism is very well engineered, but can only be clamped onto a surface of about 2" max. thickness (I had to remove the upper drawer from my desk so that I could attach the pedals). Other than that, the only other minor beef I have is the lack of a column-type shifter. The F1-style paddles behind the wheel are nice, but do take a bit of getting used to, especially at full lock. I paid about $130 for mine through mail order nearly 6 months ago, and can recommend it highly. "The moment someone's laziness makes my life difficult, I turn into an *** with a cause."

I thought I'd see more about the LWFF wheel. I was kind of leaning that way but now you other guys have got me thinking differently. Any thoughts on the LWFF out there? Thanks for the replies everyone, Dan I've only tried the LWFF, but I love it! Warlock! OK gang What's the best FF wheel out there for around $150.00.

As a matter of fact, there will be exactly that. With this news group in mind, Act Labs has given me the okay to do a head to head shootout with the Guillemot Ferrari wheel. They are quite confident that I'll like their wheel better. Because of the Christmas rush, they are out of wheels, but should be sending me one in about a week. So if you can hold off.... The review will be more based on driving impressions, smoothness and accuracy, than on the color of the box. I'll test both units on a wide range of games and on 2 computers. I plan on being brutally honest in my conclusions. I'll keep this ng posted. If you need to buy your wheel right away, remember that Act Labs has a 30 day, money back, satisfaction guarantee. But... it will cost you shipping each way. Slot John Hartridge wrote in message <83nk8b$[email hidden]>...

Well I have owned a V4 Force Feedback Interact Wheel since last Christmas, recently I decided to purchase the Act Labs Force RS wheel. I thought the USB and shifter additions looked interesting. When I received them I immediately removed the InterAct V4 and installed the Act Labs Force RS with Shifter through the USB port. I was highly dissappointed in the feedback "feel" compared to the Act Labs wheel. Other than that the fit and finish of the Act Labs RS is superb. The shifter worked superb. The gas and brake pedals are superb. I feel the InterAct V4 software interface is much better and easier to program. After keeping the Act Labs Force RS for about a week and dealing with their superb tech support I was forced to return their Force RS wheel. I really wanted to keep it just because of the USB and Shifter features, But the InterAct V4 beats it hands down in actual game play enjoyment The bumps (rough roads) feel like bumps. The slides like slides, Crashes like crashes, engine rumble like an engine rumbling ect. ect. I was ready to trade off the Interact V4 for the new RS Force but I couldn't do it. The InterAct V4 wheel has spoiled me. Until a wheel comes along that has at least equal to performance in force feedback I have to remain satisfied with this simple but very gratifying wheel. > >> OK gang What's the best FF wheel out there for around $150.00. > I have only tried one as well, but really love the Microsoft FF wheel/pedal > combo. How'd you fix the delayed response of the gas/brake pedal? The last time I used the V4 here at work (back when Official Formula 1 was in test), the gas and brake pedals had this delay that made it impossible to drive any realistic sim. Forget throttle steering with GPL, since what you do with the pedals is definitely not what you get. A quick stab/release at the gas pedal didn't produce a high-RPM rev, just a bump above idle. Even reviews I've read about the wheel complained about the same thing. Did Interact fix this with newer software or something?
