Well I took a leap of faith today and bought my first Force Feed Wheel. Love
the effects - but, it's a LWFF, and it squeaks!
After about 15 minutes of use it has started to squeak like old office
chair. Which does nothing for the immersion factor.
Too bad cause I got used to the pedals right away, I had read so many bad
reports about them I thought they would be a problem.
Has anyone contacted Logitech about this? Anyone have a fix?
Alan
Same thing with my logitech wheel. I've heard that you can spray it with
something but I haven't tried it yet. It seems to be a common problem with
this particular wheel.
I went inside mine and worked some light grease into the bushings though a
dry graphite compound would probably be better. There is a lot of slop in
those bushings though. I'm going to check out the ball bearing conversion .
BTW : to get into the wheel pop the hub cover off to gain access to the hub
nut. Disconnect the gang connector from mini board in hub, remove hub nut
and keeper. Pull wheel off making sure that gang connector doesn't snag.
Turn wheel unit over and remove the 6 silver headed screws ( the black ones
can be left undisturbed). Slide upper cover off over wheel shaft and there
you are.

production tolerances lining up a certain way.
I would suggest taking it back and grabbing another until you get one that
doesn't squeak.
I've been lucky enough to have mine for a couple months now with no squeaks
what so ever.

Thanks for the input, but I don't have the time to exchange until I find one
that's OK. Not sure if I'll give any others a try.
I'd get the MSFF, but I rather have USB (hot swap between flight sims and
racing sims). The GFFF looks good, but the local stores don't carry it, I
won't mail order because the high cost of shipping precludes any exchange
once you buy.

squeaked, however after a couple of days good use the squeak disappeared
completely all on it's own. I for one was reluctant to open the wheel and
invalidate the guarantee on a 130 product :-)

With the BB conversion the squeaking definitely stops. There is still a little
noise from the motor's carbon brushes, which isn't annoying.

Hi!
I put a little grease on the bushing, and now no squeak.
It's very easy to make...only 3 bushing to grease.
Sure, the best is the BB conversion...

It is necessary surely to pay attention to the choice of grease, in my case
I have use grease high speed that I am useful myself has the work for
precisely grease of the nylon bushings

Be careful with grease - petroleum based lubricants could dissolve your
bushings.
