Troll claims EA's F1 2000 will beat Grand Prix 3

Shaun Robinson claimed that EA's F1 2000 would beat Grand Prix 3 based on its screenshots. Replies called it a troll and argued that graphics do not make a sim. Shumi noted that EA had said F1 2000 would target arcade players.

Come on, if anyone things that Crammond can beat this there on ***. The graphics shot GP3 to shit, and if the physics are as good or better than CPR I'm sold. GP3; all cars use the same model; what the hell is a virtual***pit? if that's CPR's its crap. EA F1 2000; look at the screen shots (car models); -appear- to be a GPL equivalent 3D***pit. Initially i was considering buying GP3 just for the 'current' wait wait, its old... I'm an antiEAist, i hate revoltion, SBK was ***(well semicrap, it wasn't really made by EA though), and NforS is nothing, SCGT is mega- megamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamega crapy game, i'm sorry i'm a sim person. But this may be a half decent game.
Let's try that again Shaun. "thinks" and "they're" might help the above sentence. Crack kills. Surely this is a troll.
Damn it, it was late at night and i was tired. > >Come on, if anyone things that Crammond can beat this there on ***. > Let's try that again Shaun. "thinks" and "they're" might help the > above sentence. Crack kills. > Surely this is a troll.

<yawn> Is this newsgroup turning into a troll fest of people who think the name of this NG is : comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.arcade.racing ??? Shaun, graphics don't mean a GOOD quality title. Graphics don't create intense and immerse gameplay options like GP2 had and GP3 will have. Graphics don't create the sensation of really racing a F1 car to it's limit, it only increase it a little IF and the IF is important here... IF you have a quality game engine that models accurately a F1 car. -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... get real man.....the screenshots of gp3 are only in software mode...just wait untill we see the 3d accelerated screenshots.....gp1 and gp2 were the best f1 sims you could buy...and gp3 will be the same. GP3 will be the best F1 sim GP500 is the best bike sim GPL is the best racing sim....(if u like old cars.) megamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamegamega

Shaun, great eye candy does not = great game.GP2 in 2D IS still a great game. GPL in 2D is great, just better still in 3D. Nascar Revolution is great eye candy, but it aint a patch on Nascar of any vintage - game wise. A shiny heap of junk is still a heap of junk.

Actualy.. some times graphics does mean alot. Lots of people out there do little research on games and since they only got the box to look at, and the game info (as provided by the makers) games can easily sell casuse of graphics. And I've never seen an arcade game with tyre temp indicators and driving aids available. There are alot of features, told and seen in the pics, that give it the show that it isn't arcadeish. You never know what It'll turn out to be in the end, but of what I've seen and heard, it doesn't seam Arcade to me. This could possiably be released like SBK was, with Action (arcade) and Simulation options. And if that happened I'd pick it up with little fuss. Someone doesn't just go for a game with expensive rights (FIA) and put out an arcade game. I've never heard of it. DjFIL

oops. I better fix this up ASAP. In last 2 lines what I ment is following. A company won't go out and buy some expensive rights, like F1, and than waste it on an arcadish game. (note: OF1R doesn't count, it was a total flop in my opinion.). hope that clear's up future questions. DjFIL

Go on. You do have something intelligent to add to that, right? If were gonna use Nascar Revolution against EA F1, why not use SOS aginst Microprose's GP3? Thing is we can't do that. EA is a huge crew, not just 1 guy programing every single game. Same with Microprose, Crammond didn't make SOS, so why use that aginst him? You see where this is going. DjFIL

To say that a company will not spend all that money on rights just to go and make a game arcadish is just BS. They would put Nascar on a poison bottle if it sold. Take all the driving games on the market and I would say that the over whelming majority are "arcade". Most people unlike ourselves want a pedal to the metal game. Arcade out sells sims any day, look at GPL it is the best auto sim in the world and it was a marketing failure. To be good at a sim racing game you must be a little fanatical (look at us, we're discussing it on a news group!). Most people don't give a shit about this kind of stuff. They want to start up the PC and just drive, no screwing around with set ups or finding the breaking points on a track. They just want to drive Schueys (or Ernhart or whom ever) car real fast. I'm not saying that this new game won't be good but we will hold our collective breaths until we see hard evidence. I hope you are right. And speaking of intelligence I'll quote you, "A company wont go out and buy the expensive rights to something like F1 and just go and make an arcadish game out of it, oh except OF1R" how do your feet taste? Al Stiff "I was wrong once in my life, you see I thought I was wrong but I was not, so therefore I was wrong for thinking I was wrong" > Go on. Most of us would agree. Nascar Revolution was the pits. It was the absolute best motorbike sim on the PC, which is now only second to GP500. A classic and original arcade style series of games. Very good too! Blow me away! Sports Car GT BAD? It really must take a LOT to please you! Besides some odd AI, SCGT rocks! Phil Winstow ICQ: 57400677

opinion.). Huh ? It's like... they _will_ actually waste it on an arcade game. What's wrong with that ? It sells ALOT of software, it is much more popular. Why is this wrong ? I personally have no problem with people who like that type of games or software who are released as arcade games. But as a racing simulator fan, I prefer realistic ones. And the thing that tickles me the most is when an arcade-software is being promoted as realistic. Ever heard about Psygnosis ? Or the EA series of NASCAR arcade-type games ? What about SEGA who spent million of dollars for the Daytona track license ? -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... Funny thing is...... EA has already made it clear in an "official" press release some months back that this game will be catering to the "arcade racer". It's purposely not a "Simulation" so your insinuation is unfounded, uninformed, a little bit crazy, and full on ignorant. And know finally we're getting somewere. It's all just a matter of taste !! I can agree with the people who are saying that NFS3 and 4 are great and OF1R and all because they get their own kick out of it. And for those people out there like me who like "realistic" simulation-racing and thereby GPL, are also in their right. Because they simple love to do that and get their kick out of it. So this will end the discussion here because it's true. It's just a matter of taste. When can anybody say that a "game" is a nother "game" 's beater? When it sells better? When it's better to play? When it gives you more simulation? When it...... You see, it is no fun for NFS-fans to drive in GPL and and up off-track almost every corner. And it's no fun for GPL-fans to just drive topspeed and then go left or right.... Lets wait and see who's gonna like GP3. I guess it's going to be my favorite looking back too F1GP and GP2 and looking to the announcements for further delays for the sim to come out. This will only tell me it will be a top sim and not like the other "through-it-on-the-market-before-they-do-sims". Waiting for reply.... regards Antony
