STCC demo is disappointing

I downloaded all 33 megs of the STCC demo. I regret to report that it is very disappointing. It sorta makes TOCA2 seem like GPL. Although it's a little hard to tell too much from the demo, in that there is no in-car view (just chase) and the keyboard is the only way to control the car. The sound is very weird, like one of the gas-powered model airplanes or a wind-up toy. There is no damage and it doesn't seem like there is anything like understeer or realistic physics. That's all you get after downloading 33 megs. The demo is 100% arcade. James Larson
I agree You are incorrect. F1 changes your driving views (although the in car dash is not a work of art) and there is support for wheels you just have to add "new controller" and set it up, but the wheel has to be configured in windows control panel first. LOL this is what I thought. It DOES sound like a plane! Yeah the physics are horrible IMHO. No feeling of tight or loose. If you are on cable, DSL etc it doesnt take too long to download, but for conventional modem users I would say "dont waste your time" :) Skotty Flynn http://www.nascar-racing-sims.com "skotty20" on WON

I`m not defending this demo but it does have an in-car view and you can use a steering wheel.
-----8<----- Hmm, have you been to a touringcar race and listened to the sounds these cars makes? The sounds in game is acctualy a lot better than TOCA2 on that bit, the Alfa Romeo 156 in the full version just sounds gourdious! :) /Stefan -- ========================================================== Testa v?r Julkalender, http://www.columna.se/julkalender Software Developer Phone(Work): (0)243-886 01 Columna AB Phone(Cell): (0)70- 665 75 67 "Computers are like airconditioners; they stop working if you open Windows" ==========================================================

Exactly how much time did you spend with the demo before making these two observations? (snip) Although it's a little hard to tell too much from the demo, in that there is no in-car view (just chase) and the keyboard is the only way to control the car. (unsnip) Both are incorrect. -----------== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News ==---------- http://www.newsfeeds.com The Largest Usenet Servers in the World! ------== Over 73,000 Newsgroups - Including Dedicated Binaries Servers ==-----

Well the demo I downloaded does support my MSFF wheel - you have to add the controller in the options. Although the dead zone is too big for my liking and the sensitivty too low - with no option to change it - in the demo at least.
