I just installed a new Voodoo 3 3000 into my machine, and GPL frame
rates have gone up, but I am getting really weird video effects. For
instance, the sky is 2 blocks of blue with no shading or clouds. I also
get weird effects on the road, buildings, trees, etc. The most
interesting effect is "accordion trees" at Monaco that go from skinny to
fat to skinny.
I have read through the archives (deja news) and seen several "fixes"
for this problem. However, I haven't been able to get it fixed. I have
this problem at ALL resolutions, including 640 x 480. I am running the
latest versions of the drivers and GPL.
I have tried:
Latest Voodoo 3 drivers with DirectX 7
Reinstalling Video Card
Reinstalling GPL (and applying both patches after the install)
Add Banshee and other GPL patch from the Web
Disabling Splash screen
Selecting "Limit textures to 2 Meg"
Copying older version of glide2x.dll into GPL directory
HELP????!!!!!!! Please, any and all suggestions are welcome.
This has been replied to several times lately. Patch GPL to version
1.2 and that should fix the voodoo problems. But you've already done
that..hmmmm. Try just installing gpl then patching directly to v1.2.
About the only other thing I can think of is that you have some old
versions of the 3dfx driver files hiding in your system.
