I am a driving game nut (aren't we all)! Anyway, I am feeling a little disappointed at the performance of my machine and want to buy a new video card and steering wheel soon. I currently have: AMD k6-2 350 128 MB 100HMZ RAM 15' Monitor SB AWE 64 (ISA) and a nice big 7200 RPM UDMA 66 (running at 33 natch) Maxtor HD. Anyway, what video card would be best to get, I currently have a voodoo 2, and I have a number of 3dfx games like GPL and so on. Is it possible to run these OK on a TNT2? If not how good are Voodoo 3s, or would it be better to wait for voodoo 4. Also, just what is the difference between the ultra and standard TNT2 cards. Wheel wise (talking bottom of range FF here the MS and logitech wheels essentially), are they all hardware solutions or is there a performance hit with the wheels, in which case are some better than others? Finally, my current desk has a lip on it meaning that at the front it is 3 inches thick, will this be hard to attach a wheel to? -- I am a Member of: *TEAM-AMIGA* AND Madness Mailing List(s) ******************** Keep Gates Clear! ********************

For games like GPL, there is no better card than the Voodoo3, you will have a hard time getting a TNT2 to work with GPL, and even when you do, it won't be as good as the Voodoo3. Plus with your K6-2 350, you really don't need anything faster, because your processor will limit your system anyway. Also, unless you have a super good 15" monitor (most only support 1024x768 or 1280x1024), you will not be able to use the higher resolutions of the TNT2 (the main reason to buy a TNT2). I have a Logitech FF wheel, and I'm pretty sure it would fit on your desk. The logitech is a great wheel. I've never used the Microsoft wheel. I do believe there is a frame hit, when you enable the FF effects. But for GPL I think it would be worth it (as long it's not to much of a hit).

One more Q then, when do voodoo 4 and 5 come and are they worth it? -- I am a Member of: *TEAM-AMIGA* AND Madness Mailing List(s) ******************** Keep Gates Clear! ********************
