MSFF & SCGT

6 posts by 5 people · 22 Nov 1999 - 23 Nov 1999

Hi again guys and gals, Been playing around with my new MSFF wheel again this afternoon and decided to give SCGT a quick bash. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to recognise any of the buttons for some reason (even when they have been assigned to keys in the profile activator). Any idea what the problem is?? Also, I was a little disappointed with the actual feedback from the game :O(( Apart from when the car goes off the racing surface onto the grass, dirt, etc (which with my driving happens quite a bit...) there really doesn't seem to be much effect. There do not appear to be any forces in operation going around corners and even if I go slightly offline it doesn't seem to register, it feels very much as though the force feedback has been turned off at those times. In N3 \ NL \ GPL I can feel the wheel's forces at all times so is there something I need to change for SCGT? I couldn't find any configuration files to alter like there are with N3 \ NL \ GPL.... Many thanks for any help you can provide... Peter Hooper

SCGT has almost non-existant FF effects. Very disappointing compared to Viper (the class act, IMHO) and GPL. As for the buttons, you need to create a profile, assign the buttons to keys, and then use those keys in the game for the assignments. -larry

With SCGT you have to install the patch, before the game recognizes the "paddles". You can find them at the Pits or GT insider website. I found that the Force Feedback seems to be effected by the speed sensitivity settings (I think thats what its called). If you turn it off, it seems to give much more feedback as far as pitch and grip is concerned. I also turn off the auto center setting in the Sidewinder Control panel. You should also grab the Advaced Options Utility to get rid of the Sticky grass bug and give it a much more realistic feel Rick On Mon, 22 Nov 1999 17:28:25 -0000, "Peter Hooper"

Another side effect of turning off the speed sensitive steering is the ability to actually drive out of loose conditions rather than just having a nearly inevitable spin. ~daxe -----------== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News ==---------- http://www.newsfeeds.com The Largest Usenet Servers in the World! ------== Over 73,000 Newsgroups - Including Dedicated Binaries Servers ==-----

I tried this advice, but I could not feel any difference! To me the useful (for driving!) effects, forces, of SCGT FF seem to be quite weak, quite useless. The unnecessary effects (driving "on the side" of the track - I don't know the name of those things in English... etc.) are strong, but that is not so important... (Anyhow, I do like SCGT!) Arto
Thanks for the reply guys, I actually do have the game patched with the Advanced Options Editor and the 1.551 (I think thats the one..) patch. I am just in the process of patching it with SP 3.0. I'll try the settings mentioned and see how things improve... Peter Hooper
