N3 Tyre Temp bug?

10 posts by 6 people · 14 Nov 1999 - 16 Nov 1999

Has anybody else had the problem of the tyre temperatures going DOWN during a race? And if so, is there a patch yet? I'm trying to play this sim in Championship mode, but have found it the most buggy game I ever tried. System lockups when pressing F9, 100% tape on the nose that would not go away until I rebooted, AI abusing double file yellows, and others that I have just started reading about in this group. By the way, I saved the game after qualifying, and the tyre temps go down even after rebooting, so I guess I'll have to miss that race. Steve

Are all of your tires cooling down during a run, or just the left front? The F9 key issue is discussed in the readme file. -Paul Western States Racing League: http://www.members.home.net/helipaul/n3.htm My reply address is false. Please post replies to this news group. thats no bug, Used to do that in N2 also. As weght in car changes and speeds decrease the temps can go down at some tracks. But I am talking about 10-20 degrees. I remember having tire temps on the verge or red when I was hotlapping early in race and then as car slows the temps became more reasonble. -- Kevin Anderson --------------------------------------------------- DK-Racing #15 K_Anderson ------------------------------------------------- http://www.awtech.net/ http://www.nascar-3.com/
I think it may be a bug. On the grid they start at 117, and after 20 laps they are 72 64 60 122 122 118 88 88 88 118 118 118 If I recreate the weather conditions and setup in a single race they behave normally. These readings are for California at 70 degrees. Steve >thats no bug, Used to do that in N2 also. As weght in car changes and >speeds decrease the temps can go down at some tracks. Please see other post for the Tyre temps. I have read the Readme and could only find the bit about Control - F9, I am just pressing F9 to check my next pit stop and from time to time it locks up. I'll try next time hitting F9 again and see what happens. My card is a V3 2000 if that helps. Steve

That just doesnt seem possible. I havent had the same problem at any track but are you sure its not your setup and/or driving style? I doubt its driving (youd have to be crawling for that to be it) so that leaves setup. Check your spring rates. If they're really soft (im talkin 10% on the left) you MIGHT get really low tire temps. The left side tires arent to odd. The LR seems a little low but like I said that could be setup. Other than that i cant think of anything that would do that to the tires unless its a bug...which it may be. I never ruled that out but look at those other things first. Chris
The setup was the default Ace, no changes. And as for driving slow, I have the game opposition set at 99%, and I was on Pole, can't remember the time but around 38.5 (California) I think. Race laps in Single Race mode are run at around that time, but with normal temps 180 to 210 degrees around the car. Steve (still baffled) >That just doesnt seem possible. I have experienced this problem a couple of times as well. It only occurs when you save a race and reenter later on. On one occasion I waited in the pits to see how low they would go and they did drop to 0 degrees. I could be wrong but it seemed to happen only when you saved the race while the car was being serviced in the pits. If you save at any other time, I don't recall seeing the problem. Bottom line is you are not the only one to experience this. Don Merpaw Team Peregrine > I think it may be a bug. Phew! I was beginning to think I had dreamed it. Yes, saving the game. I tend to have a long practice and then qualifying session, then save, have a rest, and go to the (50% distance) race. It makes sense of the 100% grill tape appearing from time to time as well. Well not sense, 'cos its still a bug. Wonder when Papy will fix it? Thanks Steve
