DTR Demo Problems

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to get any speed in the DTR demo. As soon as my car crosses the S/F line, it slows down to a crawl. I can shift gears, and I can hear the engine rev, but the car is running real slow. It feels like a clogged fuel filter would. I've checked my wheel calibration, and everything is in order. (I'm using split-axis, if that matters) My system is a Celeron 300A o/ced to 450 with a Voodoo 2 and 256M RAM. Wheel is a TSW (original, not TSW2). All other sims run fine. Any thoughts regarding this would be appreciated.
The only time that happened to me was when all my controls went to 'undefined'. So i told the game what my steering, braking and shifting was again and worked fine.

Thanks for the response. I had 1 control still set as undefined. As soon as I defined it, the demo ran great. BTW, that control was the Half-Lock Steering (I think that's what it was called). I didn't have it defined because I had no clue what it was. Anybody know what this is?
