While doing my semi-regular check for news on the WWI flight simulation
front, I was struck by the parallel when browsing the web page of Wings with
Wires:
http://www.wingswithwires.com/
The project seems to have no end, they are completely caught up in graphical
and model detail, and strangely I find it rather interesting to watch it all
develop. If it works out, it will be great. If it doesn't, there are lots
of other sims to keep us entertained in the meantime.

I see the similarities you pointed out, and I read a bit in thier forums,
and yes it was interesting. Seems Wings with Wires is at a much younger
stage though, I would say about where the West brothers were back late last
year (back when they had a devout following).
And those folks in the WwW forum sound a lot more intelligent than the
westies ever did.

"Younger stage"??!
You must be kidding!
This thing has been in "development" for almost three years!
(Wrong NG, I know, but I couldn't let that one pass because I've been
following this "sim" since what seems like Adam was a boy!)

Any tips on scratching the WWI itch at the moment? I'm guessing you might
have an appreciation for all things historic. My cherished copy of Flying
Corps Gold refuses to run on my newest rig, so at the moment it seems that
aimlessly flying around with the demo version of Dawn of Aces III is the
only possibility, unless I've missed something, until either Knights over
Europe or Birds of Prey come to market (2004?).

just read of a super patch for Red Baron3d that completey updates the
sim to work with modern graphic cards and higher screen resolutions. You
can read about it in the newest PCgamer magazine, the one with the Sim
Racing 101 featurette.

You know, I remember back in 1989, as a fresh faced lad of 19 I bought his
book entitled "Di*netics". It was the paperback version that was available
in finer gas stations all across my neck of the woods. Engrossed, I pored
over that book, slowly learning how I needed to become a "clear" to ever
reach my full potential. Then I got to the back, and noticed the phone line
they had open that accepted credit cards. That's pretty much where me and
Sci*nt*l*gy parted ways for good.
Here's one for ya..
I gotta butthole here that accepts credit cards too ! But only if it's in
the shape of your tongue , Mr. Telephone-operator-Credit-card-acceptin'
Scient*l*gist ! Not interested, you say ?!? Well, then, tell those money
hungry fanatics over at TBN (that's trinity broadcasting network for the
uninformed) the offer stands good for them too !!! That's right, tell 'em to
come lick my ass!! For free !!
Here is one thing I have learned in my short 32 years on this marvelous
planet; if a smooth talker with all the answers suddenly appears out of
nowhere, and wants to give you all the answers, you had better keep one hand
on your wallet and one eye on him. And if that mother fucker happens to be
in a the pulpit of a church, better keep both hands on the wallet and your
eye you aint watching him with on your wife.
Thank you Goy, for sending me into a rant against the evils of organized
religion. See, my dad was a preacher.....

Full Canvas Jacket update was the hot thing right now. I also
remember seeing something about a WWI add-on for Screaming Demons over
Europe. Comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.flight-sim should have all the latest
info.

Your wife can watch out for herself. You really need to watch your kids
around this charlatan, especially if you have any young boys.

Excellent point. Unfortunately, my experiences have given me the impression
that wives are often no more trustworthy than the preacher. But good point
nonetheless.
