Is anyone having any problems with the player track records at any of the tracks? After running Talladega a few times, I looked at my record only to find out that it is messed up. It has recorded my record at 800+ MPH. After contacting Sierra Tech Support, they say they have not heard of it. Just wondering if I am alone with this problem. My system: Gateway PIII 500 SB Live w/ Liveware 3 256Mb RAM ACT Labs Force RS Bob Marion

Me too ...I had a record of around 1400 mph + ... I went to track text file and deleted. Ran some laps and it again is back over 1400 mph. Seems to have happened when running multiplayer ... turn lap in under 6 seconds Guess we just have to live with it.
They have not heard of it only because they are morons since it has been discussed here for weeks. My best lap of Talladega is just a tic over 17 seconds!!! This is caused by clock smashes while playing online...it can ***up your records files for the track you are racing on. I would suspect at least 50% of the people who race online have a similar problem. Marc.

I understand that the problem is a multiplayer one, but I had the problem before going online in a multiplayer "arena".

If this problem is so unavoidable when online racing then why don't they just add a piece of code that stores all improved lap times whilst racing without adding them and then after the race, if any of them are unusually quicker than the previous best - say <90% of previous best - a window pops up saying something like: "A lap time of X:xx.xx was recorded whilst racing which is a major improvement over the current best of X:xx.xx and may be a result of a clock smash. Do you wish to keep it? Yes? No?" You then can click on whichever Yes to accept or No to dump it. Problem solved. -- Peter Ives
I guess you need to be a senior programmer or director for games development since this elegant and simple solution has eluded all the pros. out there doing it for real...!!!! Cheers! And, if any company fancies incorporating this into any up and coming games/patches, then I hereby give permission by relinquishing the intellectual copyright to this idea. <g>

I have had this problem too. Seems to happen on both multiplayer and single player races. I have also reported it to Sierra support and they say they are working on it. Guess we'll just have to put up with it until then. :( My system: Custom build PIII 500 SB Live w/Liveware 3 128 megs RAM 26.8 gigs HD ACT Labs Force RS hmmm...a lot of similarities between our systems.... -- Ken Rumsey http://pages.prodigy.net/kenrumsey

To fix this problem, just take the records file off of the CD for the track that is messed up and put it in the track folder of your game. Then you can start over with your own new correct record speeds. The next time your clock gets zapped you will have to do this again....bummer. Gary Creswell

tracks? If you want to change it you can go into the records.txt file and do so, at least until the next time you race online....
