Driver is using digital controls. On/off is all you gonna get. /petern

Anyone got any ideas to reduce the huge controller dead zone in this game. Tried CTFJ3 to no avail. Thanks, Andrew.

It's analogic for direction. If you have a Logitech try put sensivity at max in profiler. JaviF Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
> Anyone got any ideas to reduce the huge controller dead zone in this game. > Tried CTFJ3 to no avail. Thanks, Andrew. Andrew, it's a great game, but they really***ed up the controls. Three problems: 1. Ridiculously large dead zone on steering. 2. If you select joystick you can only assign commands to buttons, not keys. Did they not realise some joysticks have only two buttons? 3. Using a joystick, the accelerator control is digital, not proportional, so the accelerator is either off or on full. I can't understand how the designers could be so mind-numbingly stupid. The only response is indeed aaaaarrrggghhh! They should put these problems right as soon as possible.... Hello, Ed - nice to meet you on a different newsgroup! If you had proportional control on the accelerator then that's very interesting. I certainly didn't see a digital setting in the options, but I'll check again. By the way, I use the CH Products yoke for flight sims (which is certainly analog) and it works fine for driving sims such as NFS (but I don't recall any annoying dead zone in NFS). Just a thought - when you say you can cruise on part throttle, do you mean the cruise control? Cruise control is useful but it's not the same as a proportional accelerator control.... Finally! Someone else pipes up about this. I don't have problems, either. My throttle is NOT merely ON/OFF... I've explained it too many times already, but suffice it to say it's not a 'normal' throttle, but it's definitely not merely on/off. The dead zone is a little large maybe, but it's not rediculous. FWIW, I have a Logitech WM FF wheel. --mK

When you have the throttle all the way off the car reverses and when you have it all the way down the car goes forward? -- Richard G. AFAIK driver does NOT support split axis (wouldn't work on my system). Throttle is NOT merely ON/OFF... Zolli

Kept it for 5 days and sold it. Nuff said. Andrew. >>Anyone got any ideas to reduce the huge controller dead zone in this game. >>Tried CTFJ3 to no avail. Thanks, Andrew. >Driver is using digital controls. On/off is all you gonna get. >/petern

The other night I was playing Driver, and trying to maintain a constant speed (without c/control), and couldn't do it. So, either something on my system changed, or the demo had a different throttle model than the released version does. I'm sure I was able to maintain a constant speed in Driver using the accellerator, but I guess I was wrong (or something changed somewhere...). --mK
