Just finished an hour or so running around Brainard on the AMA Superbike demo. My first impressions are probably directed against the demo so since they haven't finished updating it...things may change. W/o instructions I was a little lost in the online eviroment. Several of the keys didn't seem to function, couldn't enter chat or chat while on the bike. I found the pre-race abit lacking, couldn't tell who was in an arena or which races were already running. Trial and error got me into several races. This may only be the demo, but I was on a 600cc supersport and forced to run with whomever showed up, including the full on Superbikes. I'd like to be able to limit the class so you don't get run over. One thing is refreshing...just like GPL and N3, there was a BOZO running the track backwards. Howya doing Aceman ya twit! Once I fiddled with the joystick settings some I slowed down the busy left/right axis a-littl and got kinda consistent. I was able to race with another SS bike only once. He was fairly equal, which made it obvious who was on the Superbikes.... Connecting was good, and easy. No disconnects although a 3rd rider kept disappearing from the leader board for 5 to 10 seconds at a stretch. :) it only took me two practice sessions to realise I was starting in the pitlane and you were supposed to join the track at the first gap in the concrete. where the chap waving the yellow and green flags stood guard, If you kept going down the pit straight, you got yelled at for straying off course. I "heard" several drivers get that warning so at least I wasn't alone. My over all impression was the setting of the race was a little sterile, doesn't have the ambiance gpl has.(and I suck at gpl so I'm not being snooty!) The on track action was good, although the bike seemed more prone to pitch me off when I went offtrack when I was offline , online I 'got away' with several excursions without falling off. I did get several accidental wheelies and even wheelied over the right side retaining wall on the start/Finnish straight.{had to continue down on the grass til the wall stopped near turn 1.} I'm sure there are plenty of users who can trash AMA, but I had fun, I would like more indication of whose at the track, both before and during the sessions, and I know the scoring won't be implemented til a later update, so maybe that is comming. dave henrie

Now I heard one of the guys who started this up is from the guys who did Warbirds online, if this is true then I would like to know if they are using the same server type stuff that IMOL use for Warbirds ?? If so I would like to tell him that im seeing lots of warping while on the track, in Warbirds I dont see much warping and my connects are allways quite good, but in AMA there is a real lot of warping from the bikes. Also I would like to suggest these guys add a becon to the bikes so we can tell how good the connects are just like WB has. Lots snipped Hmm how did you slow down the busy left/right axis, im haveing lots of trouble with the trying to get the bike steady and into a straight line, can you help me here ??. Anyway good effort on AMA, I dont have GP500 yet so dont all tell me it sucks and GP500 is better because ill judge it when I get GP500 :)

In the controller section, there are pull individual settings for just about every item, x & y axis etc. I chose the steering left option and it looked like this o o (left or right I got it backwards in the first o lap back at the track, reverse if you go the o wrong way) o o o I lowered the highest settings to try and take away some of the sudden lunges on the track when moving the stick it looked more like this o o o o o oo Not stairstepped but a shallower profile(where's the good ol Commodore 64 with it's graphic symbol keyboard when ya need it?) have fun watch out for Aceman dave henrie

Should be the slash ( "/" ) key.by default to begin a chat message. Until you join a race you are attached to the "General" chat area. Once you join a race your messages go to that track's net instead. > I found the pre-race abit lacking, couldn't tell > who was in an arena or which races were already running. Trial and > error got me into several races. We are adding an ingame countdown clock showing time to end of Qualifying session, etc. Hopefully this will be in the next update. (I saw it today, but the art for it wasn't complete yet.) At the moment, the times allowed for qualifying are fairly short just to move things along. The races will probably be set for awhile to start a qualifying session once about 3 people are in the race, and for a small number of laps. There are plans to run some races without the need for qualifying once we get going also. (How many times do you need to qualify anyway, if you are racing every half hour ;) > This may only be the demo, but I was on a 600cc supersport and forced > to run with whomever showed up, including the full on Superbikes. We just completed code to bounce people our automated Chief Steward disqualifies. ;) Should be in the next update as well. Which reminds me: We forgot the "BOZO was disqualified" message.

It turns out that The Colonel's Brainerd International raceway (BIR) has the least obvious and most complicated pit road of our 9 tracks. ... Sigh ;) We've retrained the Corner Workers not to mind most driving on the pit road here. We also changed the starting locations on that track yesterday to point the other way down the pit road so you can stop at the entrance to the track near the start/finish line, "look both ways" ;) then move out into traffic (Turn 180 degrees left). The start corner worker will usually show a standing yellow for you briefly as you come out.

(I'll have to make that an automatic disqualification! ;) > I'm sure there are plenty of users who can trash AMA, but I had fun, I > would like more indication of whose at the track, both before and during > the sessions, and I know the scoring won't be implemented til a later > update, so maybe that is comming. > dave henrie We have plans for buddy lists and paging, etc. We are working now to get things in shape to run our first test event soon.called the Brainerd 120 to wring out server issues for future events.
