Hello: I'm having the "mouse X" problem when setting my controls in Cart Racing (DOS). I can fix it by disabling the mouse but I want to use the mouse for steering. The way it is now I can only steer left with the mouse.(I'm also getting red letters in the bottom left of the screen while driving). I've tried to use the ICR2 patches (icr100_2.exe and icr101_2.exe). The patches update the calib.val file and then give: error ept0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match. when it tries to modify the drivers2.txt file. The patch then stops running. Thanks for any help Ken
CR, since it was a re-release, *should* have those patches already implemented inthe product. I may be wrong, but that would explain why the error message says the files do not have the same content because it is looking for the older (unpatched) file.

YUP, You shoudn't have to worry about patching the CART Racing release. However, that doesn't mean it's perfect! :) The basic fix for setting controls is to start cart racing but before you assign the controls, UNPLUG your mouse. Also before you boot CART, delete the two files called ( I hope!) cntrls.cfg and calib.val those too keep track of your assignments and your calibration. You "may" want to copy over those same two files from N9/99. good luck dave henrie

I tried unplugging the mouse and it fixes the "mouse X" problem but I still can't use the mouse for steering (when I plug it back in after starting CR I get the same Mouse X/left steering only problem again). Deleting the controls.cfg and calib.val files makes the controls default to the number pad keys, but again I still can't use the mouse. I don't have N2/99 so I can't try those controls.cfg and calib.val files. I even tried installing CR on another system but I get the same problems. Sierra support said not to move the mouse while setting the controls, but even taking the ball out of the mouse and setting it on the floor before rebooting still causes mouse X to be automatically selected. Maybe I'll have to trade my laptop in for a desktop and get a joystick (or a wheel and pedals!!!!). But then I'd have to get GPL and I wouldn't get anything else done. :) Thanks to all that replied. Ken

OOps sorry I speed-read and missed that you WANTED to use the mouse. Kinda like the first great looking racing game that came out..back when there was a computer called Amiga. It had Ferrari F1. Gorgeous game, seems like 10 years ago...it had mouse steering with your view moving left or right to spot the next corner. And of course the original Papyrus product Indy 500 used a mouse to steer, also an Amiga game at first. dave henrie Ken wrote: > > I tried unplugging the mouse and it fixes the "mouse X" problem but I still > can't use the mouse for steering (when I plug it back in after starting CR I > g
