Papy, Papy, Papy. Why do you do this to us...
-a back wheel missing? no problem, smoke and skid marks come out as
usual
-the F1 info window saying you have zero laps to go when your on your
last lap
-lack of body roll/suspension movement, in real life on some tracks i've
seen the cars with a stationary ride hight of 8 inches then at top
speed the rear end almost/is bottoming out
-invincible pace car, ... i play with realistic damage, so should it
-can't lock the brakes when you hammer them, thats just not right
-i thinck tyre marks should be able to be left on the wall, if you tried
real hard in GPL the game would put them there (in mid air as well)
-what else... oh the pit lanes, why not straight, EA got them, CPR
*shudder* got them
-and finaly, nice pit crew, how exactly do they change the tyres? and
why are we in the last pit box every time?
back wheel missing?
yeah always thought that was strange
at least there is 'some' body roll now
who cares
no biggy
this is not GPL
i still dont understand what people mean by this... :)
last pit box all the time kinda sucks. as for the pit crew it would be
neat to see them run around the car doing a pit stop but i imagine
that would take some real work to include and would wreak havoc on
computer resources

This should be all considered by them when developing the much needed
patch...

The wheels fly off the cars during crashes sometimes. The game acts as if
they're still there, displaying smoke and such. In real life tires rarely come
completely off and when they do the car will tilt and rub the ground. In the
game the car stays perfectly level as if all four tires were still there, you
simply can't steer the car very well.
The brakes should lock. That's an important part of any driving sim.
Pace car?***it. Put a box there in it's place. Get it on the track when
necessary, get it off on restarts. Don't need any more than that.
Animated pit crew? No. Nice eye candy during the first few stops, but the
novelty would wear off quick. I just want slightly more control of my crew (be
able to change tires individually, in particular), but I don't need to see
them.
In real life tracks have straight pit lanes, except Martinsville. Many of the
pit lanes in the game, especially on the short tracks, are curved. We want to
see them straight. Not as big a deal as locking brakes, but it'd be nice.

I don't
see a "patch" fixing them. As for the F1 window. Don't think of it as
telling you what lap your on., but how many after you finish that lap
are left. So if you are on the last lap, then you have zero "more" to
finish. The cars that bottom out are often 'set soft' for the big
tracks like Daytona for Qualifying. They will purposely put in a very
soft set of rear springs to try and get the back down at speed so that
the spoiler is not producing so much drag. What are ya doing hitting
the pace car for :>
And the pit crew?? well "perhaps" they are soooo fast you just can't
see'm... :) or perhaps your windshield is getting scrubbed and you
just can't see'm...or perhaps you just can't see'm!

Nascar Racing 3 does not have a full-3d***pit like GPL, there is no need
for a 2d-wheel inside a 2d-cockpit, there is no feel of sensation like the
3d-cockpit in GPL. Just try an old racing game to understand (like hmm..
GrandPrix on AMIGA eh).
Well that's true, you have no more full laps to do when you get the white
flag.
<yawn>
N3 does not use the GPL game engine and I doubt the old engine has the
capability to do so.
It's a AI limitation, the game engine can easily create straight pitroads
but the AI can't pit when it's that, it has to be in a arc with the curved
straight (only on tracks that have curved frontstretch).
<yawn> who cares ? They do the work, that's fine for me :)

I forgot two things,
-the night lights suck, i hate to admit it but EA scored with SCGT and
revultion and there dynamic lighting or what ever its called
-doughnuts... you would think papy could change the physics model enough
to stop the revolution a second. and before anyone shrugs this one off,
at top speed i belive that, not to sure i real life but, when you go
lock to lock floor it you should be able to spin around. by this, it
would show the better physics
i agree that pace car and the pit crew are not at all vital to the game.
but for a much anticipated game i expected more, especualy because other
sims have already done it. and to hitch-hiker in preticular, i'm a
realism person, viva GPL, ie. at monza i would have the second fasts lap
time posted in the fast lane for the lotus, if they were excepting them.
1:28.38, low and stiff (btw, that IS with out rail riding)
Why would you change just one tire when you can change the both tires on
that side in the same amount of time?.
Heres my idea. What we would need, would be two programs that can be used
together. A race game / Crew Chief game. We'll use NASCAR as the example,
but could be done in all type of motor sports. If you wanted, you could
just race like we do now, having the ability to make all of the adjustments
on your own, or have a friend be your crew chief. He would be using the
Crew Chief side of the game. The key would be the two games could link
together. He would be able to watch the race from different camera angles
and prep for the next pit stop. Telling the system what he wanted to do to
the car during the next stop. A little more indepth then what you are
currently acustom to right know. The driver would have to tell the CC what
the car was doing. They would have to communicate! In fact the CC could
even be the Drivers spotter. When a actual pit stop happened, then the CC
could have the option of controlling one of the crew members. Not the
actual running around the car, but guiding the air wrench or something like
that. Oh, when you race this way, all of the F1-F9 keys would be disabled.
You would have to rely totaly on your CC for that information. Just an
idea... You can fill in the rest.
Thad
Shaun,
All eye candy. (exept for the "hammering the brakes").
Straight pits would be nice.

to, and then you need to go back into your menu and change it.
Ex
I think that one has been solved. It happens when you're chatting to someone
and you use your number keys, like, "Hey #32, nice lap". You hit 3 and 2,
thereby turning on/off Clouds and Trackside objects.

The AI files include a separate file just for the pits and it could have
them driving straight if possible. However, there is a minor tie to the
track design and the AI files. The way Papy has NASCAR/ICR/GPL
programmed for AI, the "length" of the track must be equal for all AI
files. A straight pit lane when the track curves greatly would make for
an unequal length for the pit AI files.

Yes that's true, I was obviously generalizing the situation. Since for the
AI a straight pit is actually curved, if I remember correctly the algorithm
in the LP files just can't correctly gap the AI in a parabola. So like you
said AI cars would be bunched up in the center of the pits. Implementing a
new AI engine with the LP files and actually X-Y coordinates for each pit
stall probably could be possible, but Im not sure they wanted to venture in
that way like they did for GPL :)
