Hi, Well I have now done close to 800 laps at dover and my best time is 153.5 and my best qual time is151.5. I am getting a bit discouraged because I don't know why I cant get any faster. I would love some help to figure out what I am doing wrong. I get passed by pretty much everyone at the 100% setting. Any help would be appreciated muchly! Thank you, Cibb
I think that the 100% setting is faster than real life (or it appears that way to me) I find that on 100% (or even 98 or 99 for that matter) that the cars run wayyy faster during a race than in practice or even qualifying. Do the AI cars make "adjustments" during the race to their setups, (ie they just go faster to simulate this) or am I on crack? :-)

I noticed in the WC race last weekend that most of the better cars were running around 149-151 during the actual race. Turn the AI down to 98% or so. Geez... deja vu... seems like I wrote this post once before... hmm... lol!

After watching the cup guys do it for a while I noticed that they run right on the bottom. It took me a little bit to figure it out but I think I got it. I'm running Ace setup at 70*. My top speed is 154.7 and my best qualt is 152.5. Try this. As you approach turn one turn into the corner early. Before you get to the corner apply the brake to slow it down then get off the brake just as you enter. Coast it until the car slows to 141 or so (this is about a half second in time) then jump back in the throttle. Hold the car down letting the tires squeal for about a second then back off the the wheel until they stop squealing. Stay on the gas with no tire squeal all the way through turn two. Don't pinch it. As I do this I listen to for the tire squeel. If its squeelin' I'm pinching too hard and I back off on the wheel freeing up the car. Of course if you back off too much "wham". Enter turn three the same way only perhaps even turn into the corner earlier. Sometimes I drop my right sides on the apron as I enter. Get back in the gas early then let off again in the middle of the corner. Then back on the gas for the exit of turn four. Exiting is another spot where you can get away with clipping the apron. In summary: Slow down the car before entering the corner. Once you are in the corner you should be getting back on the gas. Keep the car low. Good Luck -Brian

I have the same feeling about this. I did about only 100 laps at Dover and 153.2 as best. I don't what the real times are for this circuit but i think it's not bad for a beginning. I think the step from 97% to 98% is to big. I noticed this at Talladega. When driving at 97%, the other cars drove rounds of 193. I got 198. Strange, in N1 i managed to get 192, in N2 195 and now 198. When increasing this value to 98%, the other cars passed 200 M/Hr with ease. I still stayed at 198, some laps over 200 when staying behind another car's ass. Don't want to know what they would at 100%. All this was in practice. when qualifying, they drove laps of 193 (at 98% setting). And in the race, they drive like madman again. I think the best is to stay at 97% for now. Maybe after some months of training, you (so will I) might step to 98%. Maybe. JF

Included with the CD is a replay of a good lap at all the tracks. This is a good place to start and see where braking points and the best lines are. I believe the Dover replay lap speed is 155.
