What the hell kind of retarded beta is this!!!!!!!!!!! You download a 1.5mb file and it sets up and runs a progie that 'updates' AMA racing game. That 'update' happens to be a frickin pile 117mb files!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I don't see a resume function!!!!!!!!!!! For christs sakes, put it in a zip and allow us to download in normally. There is no way I'll get through 117mb without my 56k connect droping out. This is soooooooooo lame. I want to see the game but this just aint gonna work.

I'm telling you, these guys at Motorsims are just one big joke. Resist the urge to give them your money. In the end you'll just get headaches and broken promises.

Never mind. Disregard my first post. Seems this progie DOES so resume downloads, sorta.

Just to clarify, the 117Mb those guys are refering to is the total install base after it's downloaded, the actual size sent to your modem/cable/... is 26Mb's. What you get is pretty much the whole game but with no AI riders and just one track for now. More tracks will be available for the online only later on. You don't need to own AMA 1st but you have to setup an account to play online but the control center will take you to where you need to go to setup an account. We are not charging for it yet, and for the people that own the box we are not counting the free month yet, since we are on Open beta. Miguel Parra Motorsims.

The download is about 26mb. After installation, the installed files uncompress to about 117mb. Should you're p.o.s. modem connection ***out on you while you dl the 26mb, the download will resume where it left off. -- Philip D'Amato 1999 Ninja 500R > What the hell kind of retarded beta is this!!!!!!!!!!! The > files must compress alot. Our updater (Marimba's Castanet) will send only the bytes that we change in each file and it also compresses that data when it can as well. So updates are pretty efficient. (Which was our intent. ;) The system also decompresses _during_ the download so you build up to the full image size as you go. So even though you have only received 10 MB early in the download you might have 30 MB on disk. (Note that these were just example numbers to describe the concept.) BTW, another of the nice features is that it recovers after a lost connection. -- Matthew V. Jessick Motorsims Vehicle Dynamics Engineer (972)910-8866 Ext.125, Fax: (972)910-8216

> That 'update' happens to be a frickin pile 117mb files!! The actual download is compressed. What you see when you see the 117 MB is the final install size after the updater uncompresses it. -Chris- Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
Castanet compresses on the fly almost as well as ZIP can do on your disk. -MSM > > Mine was 33MB? > > Maybe because I had the sim on my HD? > > Did you or is 117 the whole game demo? > The whole demo is 114mb on my HD. It does download pretty fast however. The > files must compress alot.
