GPL 1.2 UK works fine!

8 posts by 6 people · 30 Sep 1999 - 01 Oct 1999

I have just had three hours driving in GPL with the 1.2 Patch installed in the UK version, with no problems and no slowdowns. Well done Sierra! AND no CD! Steve

What does the patch do? Can anyone tell me that... Its the most important part of the patch yet all anyone is concerned with is the fact that its out:-) >I have just had three hours driving in GPL with the 1.2 Patch installed in >the UK version, with no problems and no slowdowns. Read the NG post by Randy Casidy. He posted an edited version of the 1.2 readme file just yesterday or a couple days ago. -- ========================================= Mike Barlow of Barlow Racing? ========================================= http://members.xoom.com/BarlowRacing/ Racing online with the help of...... Where did you get the UK patch? I've installed the German patch, but that CD check is annoying, so I'd like give the UK version a try. Maybe it works. Thanx! Peter Vienna, Austria
Never mind! Found it at theuspits. I'll give it a try tomorrow on my German version. Peter Vienna, Austria

It gets rid of the turbo / slomo effects when online, fixes a number of errors involving non scoring if disconnected and reconnect. The timing is now accurate again. You also get a realtime indicator graph of latency , quality and skew (skew is the time difference between the host and client) The physics appear to have been slightly tweaked to be closer to what they were in version 1. -- Ian Parker UKGPL League http://www.btinternet.com/~ukgpl/index.html --
Ian, I never found a real difference in the physics in 1.1 compared to 1.0. With 1.2 I don't notice different physics too. Can you explain in what way the physics have changed? Andre

In 1.1 the car felt totally different to 1.0, seemed to turn in much easier at slow speeds and not turn in well at high speeds, with 1.2 the feel is more like version 1. The brake bias also needed to be changed towards the front for 1.1, with 1.2 they are close to 1.0. I went from 53% in 1 to 55% in 1.1 and am now on 54% with 1.2. The differences are small, but they are there. -- Ian Parker UKGPL League http://www.btinternet.com/~ukgpl/index.html --
