I know a couple of you have asked about how the Athlon runs with GPL, so I thought I would post my results. My system: Athlon 550 FIC SD-11 motherboard SBLive Voodoo3 3000 128 megs PC100 Logitech FF wheel At Monza with full grid and max detail at 1280x1024 at the start I'm getting 20-23 frames (not sure if it makes a difference, but I was starting in the 20th slot). I'm not real sure if these are good numbers are not. I had a PIII 450, and it would shutter with the same settings at the start of a race (I either didn't check the FPS or I forgot).
I have a PIII 450, Asus P2B, V3 3000, SBLive, LWFF and I get 18-19 fps in Monza, 20th pos., all details maxed at 1280x1024. Not that I use these settings, I set detail to half, only cars and track without textures in mirrors at 800x600 and get 30-31 fps (about 2 fps lower at 1024x768). Fps are more important than resolution, IMO. So, this Athlon thingy is faster, but not the amount I thought it would be. Would be interesting, if someone with a PIII 550 and the same other hardware posted his results... BTW, are your fps meant before everybody starts moving or are they the lowest fps you get when the whole grid moves on? On my system the rate drops 6-7 fps for a few seconds just after the actual start. Peter Vienna, Austria

Actually it's 23-24 sitting on grid, 19-20 just after race starts. > > At Monza with full grid and max detail at 1280x1024 at the start I'm > getting > > 20-23 frames (not sure if it makes a difference, but I was starting in the > > 20th slot). > > I'm not real sure if these are good numbers are not. at 1024x768, 128meg pc100, sb live value. By the time I get to 2nd gear its 36+. That old thriller rips GPL. I love this game. Gman
