N3: something simple but very irritating

I can't remember reading anything about it, but what I find one of the most irritating things in N3 (and which, simple as it is, spoils the 'sim' idea of N3) is the turning on the spot of crashed cars. When there is a crash and cars are turned in any direction but the right one, after a few seconds they suddenly, magically, pivot on the spot and drive off! While I have to spend precious seconds trying to turn around (which can be quit *** some steep spots, taking a lot of grass, etc). This is downright awfull! I'm I the only onewho's annoyed? BTW I also can't believe Papyrus can't get rid of those VERY stupid AI cars staying behind stopped cars on the track. Is it so hard to make them pass them at full speed (like in real life)??? Incredible... Still, N3 is great of course :-) Another small, simple thing what I DO like are the skidmarks. I never thought something simple as this could make a game look so good. It makes is so much more real and immersive! Jeroen

I agree, and the solution I have found to work is, if your using a wheel/pedal combo, is to set your control to joystick(non linear), adjust your wheellock in your setup to compensate(much higher, like double) then when you need to turn around quickly, you can.

Oh pshaw, this amazing 'feature' is available to the player as well. Simply stand on the brakes, gun the throttle, and turn the wheel. Watch in wonder as you car rotates about it's Z-axis in one of the more impressive displays of stunt driving ever witnessed. Note, you need independent brake and throttle to accomplish this. You can also do this in AMA Superbike Racing although you have to use both the front and (full) rear brake in addition to the throttle. You don't even need to steer in that game to get the effect though. - George

The AI cars are horrible in N3.. as usual. They can still go from 200 to 0 instantly, everyone stops for a wreck and they turn sideways. Online racing against real people is the only way to go. Unfortunately, it sucks in N3. A lot of bad connections and bad drivers. Several services are working on setting up servers for racing which should make for better racing. Practice up and watch for news of this. I'm sure they will charge for this, but I'll be glad to pay to race to avoid the guys that as soon as they realize they can't win, start wrecking everyone and parking on the middle of the track and hosts who setup 30-50 lap races and end early if the host is crashed. While there were a few rather rude individuals that seem to forget that N3, no matter how much they love it, is STILL just a game, I had never encountered someone deliberatly wrecking out other drivers nor going the wrong way on the track or parking in the middle. This is something I have never found on GPL online games either. I'm sure it happens but perhaps I was lucky. The comments, on the other hand, tend to make many of the drivers look like 15 year olds on the best of days. ____________________ Hydrogen and Stupidity.. The two most universal elements

They are in both areas. I have raced both and know they exist. Rail Runners in GPL, parking it in the groove in N3. The one nice thing that many people fail to mention is that N3 does have protection for backwards driving built into the game. If you drive backwards in multiplayer for more than a few seconds it will boot you out of the race. Bill / Amish on Team Brickyard

You have been lucky if you have not run into this. I haven't played GPL online, but even on TEN there were a few of these individuals, and I've seen a lot of this with N3 multiplayer. A large number do seem like 15 year olds who without practice jump in multiplayer and frustrated that they are not competitive start wrecking people. I was in a race the other night, and asked a guy if he was trying to wreck people or just using the keyboard. He and 3 other told me they were using the keyboard and their Qual time reflected this. In the race, these guys wrecked early then played demo derby. 6 of us were battling for the lead and lap by lap we were all taken out. Nothing wrong with 15 year olds, I wish I was again, but spoiling others racing it pitiful. JTRIV

It's one of the things that makes it harder for the Maturity Challenged set to annoy the rest of the racers. ____________________ Hydrogen and Stupidity.. The two most universal elements

I've seen it all the time.. someone stops in the middle of the track or just goes very very very slowly. Fortunately my spotter sees it and tells me to go high.. or go low. Unfortunately there are those people who wreck, and then wait till you drive by them... and then WHAM!! they pull out in front of you. I guess kids these days don't have enough cartoons to watch, so they annoy people instead. > >The AI cars are horrible in N3.. as usual.
