Hey Joe, let me know if you have a problem with it.
I have the Setup Controller selection grayed out.
I can go into the Redefine Keyboard section, and there are selections
such as SETUP CONTROLLER listed *after* the key setups...
For example, Setup Controller is bound to the right turn key.
I can move them all around, but obviously something is really screwed
up. <???>
I know other people have it working, because I was reading the forum
on one of the fan sites.

I am surprised, the physics aren't that bad. The graphics are cool, as
is the sound. The FF effect (with Logitech WF) are fine too.
The car still feels too light for me, and the physics don't seem to
model the tyre/ground contact. Beside that, again, it isn't bad,
I think I'll buy it...

Did you add a joystick in the Windows Games Controller setup (Control
panel)? That should do it...

My Wingman Force was already there.
Other games are working fine. The only thing I'm not sure about is if
it's a DX7 issue. I just installed it.
I removed the demo, and re-installed it along with the patch and have
the same thing. =8^/

I spoke too soon. N3 *was* working fine after installing DX7.
Something happened between then and when I installed the Rally patch,
because when I went back in, N3 wasn't recognizing the wheel either.
It was shown in the Joystick applet, and responding to the FF tests in
the settings window, but not recognized by the game.
I uninstalled the Wingman software, restarted, then re-installed with
the newest drivers. Everything was fine after that, with both N3 and
Rally Championship.
Something must have gone goofy after my first DX7 reboot, because N3
was fine after it first restarted my system and updated the DX
settings. Odd.

Now that I got it working right, I agree with you Remco.
I love the FF effects. I've never driven a rally car, but I have
driven a Jeep pretty hard off-road, and they feel right.
The way the wheel goes light when you skim the ground is right on.
Seems like a simple thing, but the effect is perfect.
The car still feels a little bit to willing to get back in line after
slide, and it also seems to do it rather quickly.
I realize it's front wheel drive, and the front tends to pull straight
as you gas if you're out of shape, but the car almost seems to pivot
over to the tail, rather than pull the tail in line with the front.
That said, Magnetic Fields responded quickly to the input on a demo
most of us weren't intended to see, and I really admire them for that.
I hope there is just a little more tweaking to the car models, but I'm
springing for the full version either way. Good job.
Tim
How did you get it working?
Same probs here, weird keyboard menu, Saitek FF wheel is not recognized...
BTW, I use directx 6.1
TIA

In my case, I think DX 7 screwballed it.
I uninstalled and re-installed the Logitech software (latest ones from
www.wingmanteam.com).
At the time I did it, N3 wasn't recognizing my wheel either, so I'm
not sure if what I did would help you out.
Good luck,
Tim
I've got it working with my MSFF wheel , but cant seem to choose manual
gear-shift. is this option not available with the demo?

was that GPL didn't recognize my wheel or pedals. I went to the Game
Controllers applet in Control Panel and for a split second I saw
"Unrecognized" (I think) before I got the "OK" on my controllers.
FYI - if you have this problem the only way your contollers will be
recognized by your game/sim is to have the Game Controllers applet open.
That's right. BIG PROBLEM.
Needles to say I spent all of last night and part of today getting back
to DirectX 6. If you need assistance uninstalling DirectX 7 there is a
great utility at http://www.ebrink.com/dxun/DxUn10t.exe BUT be aware
there are two INF files included in this little package and one of them
will clean up DX7 excluding DirectSound and DirectInput while the other
will blow those away as well. Take it from me if you uninstall
DirectInput/DirectSound you will probably need to re-install Win98 to get
them back - at least I did. Currently I am very happy with DX6 :)
Good luck!

Wingman FF. Plugged it in, and the game actually listed "Logitech Wingman
.... " in the control setup menu.
I'm not using DX7, so that could be it ...

Worked fine for me ... I think it was under the Setup Controller menu
... then select "Joystick 1" which is my Logitech FF wheel. FF worked
too, though I wasn't that impressed with the FF effects (just road
texture, no feel for the wheels/weight of the car).

Thanks for the warning. I remember downloading and installing Directx
6.0 the first day it was available. NIGHTMARES, many games didn't run
anymore, lots of people were complaining about this. And it was a
nightmare to manually delete directx 6.0. A week or two later a
bug-free version of 6.0 was released, this worked fine.
As long as new games don't need directx 7, I absolutely won't install
it!
Andre
Shivering with fright, I installed DirectX7.0 just to run the patched
rally2000 demo...
Well, I didn't test all my games, but got no probs with GPL, Viper and
Re-Volt...

Why did you install dx7 to run the patched demo? I use dx6.1, and the
demo works fine... great force feedback by the way.

FF is real fun, but I'm missing g-forces (*g*).
