Hi, After reading numerous posts on some of the problems regarding the way a few hosts are acting on Won.net, in regards to quitting the server if they crash etc. i was thinking that if N3 was made VROC capable, then most of those problems would soon be solved.. At VROC in GPL, we have built up a good community of genuine sim racers, and most of us know everyone else, so consequently we now have a great bunch of genuine sim drivers available on tap at VROC whenever we feel like a sensible race, where we know the host won't pull the plug if he/she crashes out early.. Sure, we still get some idiots and bad/impatient hosts on VROC, but gradually they are being thinned out and being replaced by the genuine article. I am sure the NROS community was very similiar for the Nascar crowd, but as that now seems to be a fading memory, it would be good if VROC could support both Nacsar 3 and GPL races in the one data base. The on-line chat functionability in VROC/GSB would be quite interesting and amusing i think, with both Nascar & GPL sim drivers chewing the rag, so to speak.!! Good natured discussions between mature sim racers, regardless of sim preference, can be a big draw card to all racers from all backgrounds. At the roots, we are all sim racers at heart, regardless whether our love is for open wheel racing or Nascar racing etc. and having a common VROC type meeting place with all available listed races being updated at a regular interval like VROC does, would really help to keep our sim racing community alive and kicking. The idiots are soon weeded out in a community like that and eventually we are left with the true sim racers, regardless of preference for type of racing... Just imagine the good natured bickering between the Nascar and GPL drivers, it could only help to strengthen the sim community as a whole, rather than break off into a few little factions, that will eventually fade from memory altogether. Yes, i did say "good natured bickering", as us real sim racers (GPL) drivers, have to allow for the illiterate RedNecks who favour Nascar Racing. <G> Still, this was just a thought i had, when i noticed there seems to be a few problems with the present system of on-line racing with Won.net. I am a self confessed GPL ***, but i will also be getting N3 as soon as availability allows it Downunder, so it would be good to be able to enjoy both my sims of preference in a common Chat/Available Race room, like the atmosphere that VROC and GSB (SpyBoy) allows... We could even have a virtual Moonshine bar for our RedNeck roundy roundy race buddies as well... :))) Anyway, like i said, i think it would be a good place for all of us sim racers to meet and organize races etc.. Any thoughts ?? Cheers, Ron (Outback bubba)

So, your idea of "good-natured bickering" consists of stereotyping people as illiterate, redneck ***ics based on their preference of racing series? And sticking a smiley on the end makes it somehow humorous and acceptable? As a university-educated, non-drinking NASCAR (note the capital letters, it's an acronym not a word) fan, I have no real interest in sharing a chat room with a bunch of limp-wristed, snobbish, quiche-eating, Eurotrash ***s. (damn, forgot the smiley)

So, since I like F1 and NASCAR, does that make me a rednecked, limp-wristed, illiterate, quiche-eating, moonshine drinkin', Euro-Ameritrash ***? Cool. Somehow I feel very politically correct now.

So, is it just me, or are the people of today overly sensitive?? I love NASCAR and could care less if somebody called me a redneck. I consider myself lucky to have a form of racing to watch! Some people in this world don't even get that much! As for your idea Ron, I think it would be a great to run N3 through VROC or GSB. It would certainly open people to different forms of racing. Personally, I have never watched a F1 race until GPL came along. The same may happen with NASCAR and people not the from the US. My $.03 Cheers, Bob

Ron, Great idea. All that is needed for this to take place is for Alison and Nate Hine, and Larry Holbert to get together with Sierra/Papyrus and settle the same issues that they did with GPL. The only stumbling block is what they have invested in Won.com. I personally would love to be able run races in both gpl and nas3 without having to change servers. As for the chat room with both gpl and Nas3 drivers,we have that now. For the last two nights I've been in discussions with others about nas3. And not one single gpl only driver said that it didn't belong here. In fact the longer we chatted, the more drivers joined in. Will this ever take place? I don't know. And Alison hasn't been around for a few weeks now. So she is working on something besides the next setup package. And yes I know she is beta testing the patch for the 1.1 patch. But I'll send her email via vroc list and get her resonse. Joel Willstein
As a proud Coors/Fosters drinkin illiterate Redneck myself Ron, I think it's a great idea :) And I like quiche too :) You Eurotrash you! :) BTW I'd much rather have a limp wrist than a limp d_ _ k! :) smiley remembered :) Mitch

> So, is it just me, or are the people of today overly sensitive?? You are right here. People are WAY too oversensitive anymore. Call me whatever you feel you need to, I know who, and what I am, and what I am about. If people are affected so hard by the accusations of others, then perhaps they fit those accusations more than they would like to admit. Trying to shut them up is just ignorance. Freedom of speech is slowly disolving in this country. It's more like "freedom of speech as long as you don't offend someone". But of course there is ALWAYS someone who will be offended. Me either. And I was never really interested in the history of motor racing like I am today. I was more of a here-and-now kinda guy with motor racing for many years, and only as it pertained to NASCAR. Knew and appreciated the past of NASCAR, and the Indy 500, but never really delved into it. Then GPL came out, and bam---interest in Grand Prix racing of all era's now, as well many other forms of racing. My interest in racing expanded ten fold after owning my first Papy game(NASCAR Racing), and again ten fold after GPL. -- Scott Hoffner -Outshined- on TEN/POGO *****LEGAL NOTICE TO ALL BULK E-MAILERS***** NOTICE TO BULK EMAILERS: Pursuant to US Code, Title 47, Chapter 5, Subchapter II, 227, any and all nonsolicited commercial E-mail sent to this address is subject to a download and archival fee in the amount of $500 US. I did say in my post, "Mature", you obviously fall far short of that catagory. !! By the way, there is a lot more to maturity than how old you are. !!! I also don't care what people call me, when it comes to good natured bickering, as i do have a sense of humour, something you obviously lack... Maybe if you take the smileys out of my original post and considered the wording i added in jest for everone else, not in jest for you, it would be appropriate.. ps.. i didn't forget the smiley in this post for you..... By'e, you University-educated, Non-drinking, NASCAR cry baby.. !! Cheers, Ron

LOL Mitch, you USA RedNecks have nothing on us Outback RedNecks.. We can't even spell Nascar properly, i have been told it's, "NASCAR", not Nascar.. <G> God Damn, i knew i should have studied harder in my only week i ever went to school.. :) Cheers, Ron

Hi Bobby, Your dead right... Untill i become involved in sim car racing, i had never watched a Nascar race on TV at all, but after the original Indy 500 sim hooked me, i have been following Indycar & Nascar racing as well as F1.. Down here in Australia, we don't get coverage of Nascar racing on free- to-air TV unfortunately, but we are gradually getting satellite and cable TV to most locations around Australia now, so the Nascar racing circus is becoming more available to us all the time. I also started watching and taking an interest in Nascar racing, after i bought Nascar1 and have continued my interest in it, which is obvious by my games cupboard, which also contains Nascar2, NR99 and soon to be Nascar3, along with my collection of open wheel sims.. Doh, i must be a real RedNeck.. :)) By the one and only (so-far) negative response to my initial post, i would say that most of us in the sim racing community still have a sense of humour and most of us know each other through the internet anyway, so why not merge the two factions into a better sim community.. Cheers, Ron > So, is it just me, or are the people of today overly sensitive?? I love > NASCAR and could care less if somebody called me a redneck. Hi Scott, I have been called some wierd and wonderfull names from my Nascar racing friends (see RedNecks) over in USA, believe me.. <G> Like you, i don't care, if we can't have a joke and a laugh with each other, then we don't belong here, IMO... Regards to following a previously unfollowed motor sport, through getting involved in the sim of the same type, it seems like you, along with most of us sim racers seem to get caught in the same way.. As i just said to Bobby, i didn't have any interest in Nascar or Indycar racing either, untill i started playing the relevant sims and now i am an avid follower of both of those two as well as F1.. See you on-line soon. :) Cheers, Ron > > So, is it just me, or are the people of today overly sensitive?? > You are right here. People are WAY too oversensitive anymore. Hi Joel, I don't think it is possible to merge Nascar3 into VROC, from the way the multi-player mode is implemented, but i may be wrong there. I was just sort of throwing ideas around to see what other peoples ideas were in relation to us all having a common race/chat room like VROC, where we could all join races, regardless of whether it was GPL or Nascar based and be able to discuss racing issues, setups, etc. etc, like we do in VROC and GSB.. Gee, just maybe, we might all be able to rib each other about our likes and dislikes without getting all aggro etc. :) Most of us sim racers, regardless of our comments, will have a go at any decent sim that provides good multi-player support, like GPL and Nascar 3 etc.. We can always hope Joel... Cheers, Ron > Great idea. ROTFLOL. I believe that Ron is uni educated as well. I bet he had a better time of it at freshers week. Limp wristed? Guess you havn't done too many GP's with FF on. As for the Eurotrash ***s inclusion, hmmm, does that apply to redneck GPL drivers as well or do they get a special dispensation? Mark
