LOL, Ed.. You keep this up and downloading the RAS news list, won't take you very long at all.... <G> I used to stir Ymenard all the time about his plonking of the idiots on RAS, but you seem to be even out-plonking him lately.. :) Maybe we have more idiots here now than we used to, or maybe Ymenard has gotten more tolerant and you less tolerant of idiots. :) Cheers & Happy Plonking.. <G> Ron > On Sun, 19 Sep 1999 01:12:23 -0500, > >Sorry but I am unimpressed....and its Papy's fault....they shoulda released

Norm, Let's see, you don't like the game-- return it. I'm pleased with N3 and the multiplayer works splendidly for me, which is what I was after. There is no way possible that everyone can be pleased all the time about something. You and all the other whiners can just return your copy. If you don't know by now, let me give you a little suggestion. Whenever someone says something, like maybe tells you a story about an experience they had, or whenever some software is hyped-- try using this calculation: subtract a good 20% for exaggeration. As such, someone tells you a story about how once it rained 10 inches in an hour. Well, use the 10 here and take 80% of that number, and that's probably closer to the truth. Also, if it's a male who tells you the story or hypes something, you need to add another couple of percentage points. Generally, also, the older a person gets the more they will exaggerate, so add even more points if you suspect age. So this way you won't be too disappointed the next time a racing simulation comes out. Look at Floyd-- media coverage subtract 75%-- were you disappointed? Later, Alanb

No Deja Vu here. N3 is a totally different game, from the playing experience, than N2. I guess you missed: 1. The highly upraded, and much smarter, AI. 2. The vastly improved sounds. 3. Graphics that the older versions can't compare to. 4. Video performance that completely blows away the previous versions. 5. Online play that, while certainly not TEN quality, is very well integrated and easy to use. This is the first upgrade since the original N2 that is worth buying. NR1999 was a rip-off. This one is not. Did you open the box? -Larry ==-----

I still see cars stop and pile up behind a wreck instead of going around.....as in N2 NFS High Stakes is pretty too, but that doesn't make it a good Racing sim...I am basing my judgement on GPL which vastly improved the driving model. Hell even Viper Racing seemed better in this sense. There is no argument that the did a great job visually and with the sounds....but its still N2 on the inside. ID software wouldn't release a new Quake engine in a game then go back and release the next Quake game in an older engine than what was availble to them. I just wished they could have worked with the GPL version maybe cut out some detail but atleast stick with newer technology, Heck even looking side to side in the***pit view like GPL or anything to make me think I wasn't just driving around in a Prettier N2 game. Ya, but after GPL did you not expect more? sorry, IMHO I did Norm Did you open the box?
