Rick Osborn & John Prather an international team driving the #69 Team
Redline Corvette lapped the field to win the 2003 Bullrun 1000. The 1000
kilometer race featured mulitple online drivers for the first time as the
Nr2k3 TPTCC Trans AM mod allowed team-mates from all over the globe to
participate online.
In a method pioneered by an Aussie endurance league the teams all started
one driver online while the 2nd driver waited(not connected to the server)
for the 'driver change.' To my knowledge no other sim allows racing online
with team mates using the same car and keeping accurate track of their
placement even when they are not located in the same room or country.
Rick hailed from the UK and I assumed he logged in from there, John
is a West Coast Californian. Truly a mindboggling acheivement to have one
driver start the race, then exit and have his teammate be able to rejoin
the server and continue on. The process is not simple but once mastered,
you can exit and enter a race almost at will. I'm looking forward to the
day when 5 or 6 'teammates' from all over the world hookup in a 24 hour
race totally online against similar teams from all over. If you saw the
Pits preview shots of five body styles at Le Sarthe...Then you just have to
salivate over the possiblities.
