Hi
I was wondering if someone can able to create a camera like the one we see
in the replays on board ...
it is exactly the same camera as the 'normal' on board camera when driving,
but without***pit movement ...
is it possible ?
thanks

Sure is. Just select "in-car" camera. The***pit doesn't move in replays,
like it does when driving.

I meant I want to drive without***pit movement, not only for replays ...

You can do it, but I think you'd still lose your mirrors. I'll give it a
look.
Cheers,

In options, uncheck driver arms. Its the same***pit view, and it will
help FPS too.
I'd like to see one that swaps the behind the car view and the
roll bar view, so when driving pressing F10 you swap between
in car and roll bar.
alternately can anyone point me to a site with information
about making .CAM files and I'll have a go at it myself.

OK; I had a look. You CAN make an in-car where the***pit doesn't move,
but you lose your functioning mirrors, gauges and shifter, and the***pit
doesn't look as nice. The wheel and arms still work fine if you like using
them. As a plus, you get the same digital readouts at the bottom of the
screen that you get from the chase view while you're driving, so you can see
your speed, rpms, etc. while driving in-car. If anyone wants the .cam file,
just let me know.
Cheers,
Steve B.
Eeeeek! More heresy! To the stake with him! I think Satan has taken
control of this newsgroup! Can you see these things when you press f 10?
(snip)
so you can see
cool
where can I dl it?

***pit movement, In F10 your car is locked to the screen and you have more
feel of the car ...
want to try it inside ...
PS: btw F10 drivers are more than 30 secs faster than me at the nurburg ...
maybe i can reduce it to 25 ;)

Eeeeek! Get that stake away from me!
Heck, I don't use the darned thing, I just responded to a question. :-) I'm
a confirmed in-car guy, myself. But yes, you can see the digital readouts
in F10 (chase) view, I suppose because the analog gauges don't work then. I
can't see any advantage to the digital displays, aside from the novelty of
seeing your speed while driving. That wears off in about 10 seconds and is
basically useless anyway. But for anyone who has issues with the 3D
***pit's movement and wants to drive OFFLINE with an overlay-type***pit
view, it IS do-able. By going to a more wide-angle view, you can even get
more peripheral vision, though that does *** fisheye-like things to the
perspective if you overdo it.
All in the interest of science,
Steve B.

Hi, Steve --
I hope you took no offense, because none was meant! Just having fun, and I
thought I was over-the-top enough to convey that. I admire all the
tinkering and discovery that you and others get into.
Guards! Put out that fire!

Hi Kurt,
None taken. I got your drift, but some people seem to get a bit testy about
this stuff! As for tinkering, you should see all the virtual duct tape on
my Lotus!
Cheers,
Steve B.
A friend of mine made me a camera that is from a more realistic head placement. Not so low as the in the car view. It lacks in mirrors and gauges though. From this view I have learned these things about GPL.
1.. The***pit motion confuses the issue - Because his camera angle is outside the virtual***pit the monocoque stays stationary. This increases the anticipation by about 42 gobs. Because there *is* gobs more anticipation without the dynamic***pit I can only believe they left it in to be cool. The game is much better from the realistic view angle. (Non dynamic) The car is much more realistic in a strictly reactionary sense. (More anticipation)
2.. The low rider angle of the head makes it hard to see the front tire track - In a real car what do you see and what do you sense? Doesn't matter at all... in a recreational sim you need to do what ever it takes to simulate the experience, not the absolute physical reality. Once again the higher/further back view dominates in that you can set up, apex, and exit corners with *accuracy*. Something the stock GPL doesn't have much of. With the new view the car is much more realistic in a strictly "transference of intention to reality" sense. (More accuracy)
Overall, it feels much more real and is faster because of the anticipation. I believe it would be faster than either***pit of F10. If only they'd done it right.

Sounds very interesting Mark. How about posting it so we can try it out ?

Here you go. This little beauty was made by Greg Renner. Drop it into the
cars\cars67\ferrari folder. Then, in player.ini in the [ Personal
Information ] section make the line - drivingView = 13. When you are in
the***pit, if you hit F10 the car will switch to behind view and the
player.ini will be rewritten. After which you will need to manually change
the player.ini again. So only hit F10 when you want to go back to factory
settings.
Have fun. :-)
(Am I gonna get yelled at for posting this file? I got some sounds too... )
