Hi!
On various sites I read about a GPL demo which let's you race against
another driver on Zandvoort and Monza, in 2 different cars. But when I
donwload the + 18 Mb demo, all I get is the same 'old' demo on Watkins. The
only difference (apart from the size) is the version number (the old one is
0.0.5 and the new one 1.0.0 or something like that). Is there really a demo
as described above, or has every site copied the wrong infomation without
checking?
Jeroen
Is there a newer GPL demo with more tracks?
A poster asked whether a rumoured newer GPL demo with Zandvoort, Monza and two cars existed, and got mostly advice to buy the full game. The thread was sidetracked by a dispute over a poster's CART feature wish list, with Eric Busch saying he had never commented on future product plans. Practical advice included the demo's full replay system and a cheap retail source.
Automated summary.
If you buy a copy, you can drive on 11 tracks, race online on all
these tracks, and get a copy of the book '4 wheel drift' for free!
With a demo you can how this game looks and plays. If you like it, buy
the full game.
Andre
I have the demo, turned it into the full game, all legally. all for free.
But your a troll, so nobody cares.

By getting GPL as a gift, and installing it over the demo
actually it was the only way to get my voodoo 3 2000 to work
it wouldn't work on a fresh install of gpl
Please define the definition of troll?
I was unaware that trolls existed.
1. A lure or a line with it's lure and hook used in trolling
They do, look above ^^ . I personally do alot of fishing, and we do use
alot of trolls. The usenet term is from that, not from the imaginary
creatures living under bridges. Please update your CART wishlist btw :)
Your post was unnecessary and was done in a way that promotes illegal piracy
of Grand Prix Legends.

We are both common posters to RAS and Papy motorsports. You should know from
reading my posts that I have purchased, N1, Icr1, ICR2, N99, and GPL. Also
intend to buy N3 and NL.
Now onto my CART features sim list. It is pretty much dead, as Eric T. Busch
commented on it that basically it would never be done so why bother. If you can
convince me to continue with it I will.
1. How the hell can you turn the demo into a full version with all the
tracks legally?
2. Don't you think Papyrus deserves some money for this game?
Andre
true.

To be clear or perhaps to confuse things even more, while I may have
commented that your feature list was perhaps a bit idealistic, I've
never made any direct comments or speculations with regards to
present/future product plans or lack thereof. You made a fine list of
features you'd like to see in a CART sim. However as I've said
previously, you need to ask yourself how many of those features are
truly vital to recreating the racing experience within the confines of
current PC technology and some finite span of development time and
money? You can't have everything, so prioritize and compromise...

tell you the TRUTH (whatever that may be) or to otherwise green light
the master feature list of some potential future sim. I believe it
was on the Sierra motorsports board where you posted the list and
asked for my opinion to which I responded with my honest take on the
subject. That said, it's still your list, so do with it as you
please. It's perfectly fine to include anything and everything you
can possibly imagine that you'd like to see in the sim, but don't
expect to get everything. Think about what you want, think about what
you need, then think about what you can get...

Talk of another CART sim in the works would be fantastic news!
I hope it comes true, and that it has all the GPL features, pit stops, all
the cars, and maybe even weather to mix up peoples settings on a day by day
basis.
Brian
I believe that it would be the developers responsibility to deem what
can be done and what can't, given their budget and schedule restraints.
Coming from a 'master' list such as this one and picking the most
appropriate material that THEY decide should be put in the game. It
shouldn't be used as an 'all-in-one' game list, but rather as a reminder
not to forget something if there are resources to implement it.

I know what a demo is! I know GPL's got 11 tracks. And a 'free' book... I just
asked if there really is a demo as described in my first post! Boy, my simple
question created a huge thread with all the info one might need about trolls,
but without any real answer! Is it so hard to answer a simple question...?
Anyway, I think I figured it out: the info given on the various download pages
is all about the full game, not the demo. I can't say it's all very clear
though... Take a look at (for instance)
http://www.avault.com/pcrl/demo_temp.asp?genre=sims_racing&game=gpleg...
Now wouldn't you too expect a demo with two tracks, or am I stupid?

GPL. Won't happen. :)
I also wanted to see a straight answer to this since I like the GPL demo to an
extent, but I don't love it. I'd really like to try out another track and some
actual racing before deciding whether or not I want to buy it. And no, around
here in the boonies of the deep south there are no Best Buys and no bargain
bins and no copies of GPL for $10. If I want that I'm driving five hours to
Dallas or six hours to New Orleans. !!! :(

That's exactly what I mean. I'd like to see how my computer (and I) can
handle a start and afirst lap with a lot of cars onscreen. Driving around on
your own just isn't what this game is about, so the demo is not good: it
doesn't give you a good look at the full product. Well, hardly any demo
does, of course... Anyway, the demo looks nice, but control seems quit
difficult (just as I've heard!) so I think I'll have to pass (until it's
VERY cheap). Back to TOCA 2 (my favorite for almost half a year already...)
And don't tell me that's not a sim! I couldn't care less: I love it and
that's racing on computer what it's all about, isn't it?!
Jeroen
There was some post on a Canadian company I believe which had GPL in
stock for $14.95. Try deja.com.
As for TOCA2, I just played it, and its nice, but does not compare to
the precise control feedback you get with GPL. It's far better with
respect to control input -> car feedback.
If you are willing to try to get better, GPL has a great potential for
e***ment when you tame the beast (a bit). The force feedback is also
much better than with TOCA2.
I just played TOCA2, and it took me 15 minutes to become first (ok, it
was Novice). GPL is more challenging, but more rewarding.

I was wondering, anyone know if you can install and run replays with the
demo,
that would give you a fairly good idea if a machine could handle GPL or not.

Actually the replays use a different method of playback and are faster on my
P2/333 than when driving. I run with *all* graphics turned on and details to
100% in my replays but use detail 0% and most graphic options off when racing.
I prefer a consistant 36fps over pretty mirrors and such. I also draw the
mirrors every 2nd frame.
With the spreadout starting grids and 10 AI drivers I get 36fps on the starts.
With 15 internet drivers I get 36fps on the starts too, since my PC is not
performing calculations for the AI.

Hi Again,
TRUSRS85 said the replay mode is full functioning in the demo so you could
