Sorry to insist, but I've read that racing GPL online winth a winmodem
is somewhat impossible. So here are my questions:
1- Don't tell me a USB modem is better: I know that. I just want to
know if people on VROC say that because it is BETTER to have a USB
modem or if running on VROC is with a winmodem is REALLY impossible,
even for somebody used to get poor performance from its GPL (I played
on a P-166 until last week!).
2- If it is impossible on VROC, is it still possible via direct
connection modem to modem? How does it feel? (if ever you can feel
something...)

the only thing i've done (and see no other ill affects) is
go to control panel.
modem properties-conections-port settings;
and slide both bars to the left (low buffers)
i have few probs
running a p3-500 with a 56k winmodem -
usual connection = 44k
