Rob Swindells' real-world racing championship update

Rob Swindells posted standings from his real-world Jim Russell Supercup championship, in which he was tied for second. When one poster abusively told him to take it elsewhere, many regulars defended him, saying they enjoyed following a sim racer's progress in real racing.

Hey buddy, Rob's a guy whose taken a different path from most to get where he is. Never having raced karts, Rob has used racing SIMS (as in rec.autos.SIMulators) to polish his driving skills. And unlike your obviously submoronic attempt at sounding enlightened, most of us here like to read Rob's progress reports. Wayne Hutchison

I've got to second Wayne's comments; personally I like hearing about league results. David

Lighten up Francis...Rob's one of us, a sim racer, and he's proving that practice in a sim can be a valuable training tool for racers. Don't like them? Don't read them... don [|]-(_)-[|]

: DO WE GIVE A FLYING *** MORON?? ITS CALLED REC.AUTOS.SIMULATORS NOT : REC.ROB.***IN.SWINDELLS.NG : TAKE IT SOME PLACE ELSE!!!!!!! Well, I prefer to think of the USENET groups I frequent as small communities, and the chat that you have wanders on or off topic depending on the way the winds are blowing. Seems a lot of us don't mind hearing how Rob has taken his sim racing skills and put them to real use. A lot of us do mind, however, when an anonymous, foul mouthed bozo drops in and tries to tell us how to run our newsgroup. Take yourself someplace else. Stephen

So far I've counted 1(one) moron in this thread. His name's not Rob....... You might relax a bit, or perhaps take your own advice. Have that keyboard checked out while you're at it. Cheers, Steve B.
Whoops, I'm causing trouble :) Interestingly, the original message from Mr. SCGT hasn't shown up on my browser... Thanks to everyone for coming to my rescue! I'm truley touched :'o)

And so say all of us :-) this arguement has come to the fore too often in recent times. It's interesting to note that most of these objectionable people are the ones who normally just lurk and/or have little of value to contribute as a whole Mark
I don't think that Bernie actually gives the drivers many pit passes :) They're all dished out to sponsors and stupid boxers who say "David Schumacher" etc.. :o) > Actually we're just sucking up so we can get pit passes when you become > famous.
