Good marketing move.
The whole PC deal for TOCA was badly done for both titles, so I have no idea
why they would continue with the hassle of different producing companies for
both the US and non-US market. It's an incredible seller on the PSX, that
market is much more suitable for a mix arcade/sim Touring Car racing game

Speaking of the U.S. PC market, there is still no U.S. release of TOCA2.
In the case of TOCA1, it too was MONTHS before release here.
Same thing with MGPRS. It was just released here a couple of months ago,
after being available in Europe for many months.

I guess that's directly related to the whole PC producing problem. It's
non-sense, it remembers me the release of the Star Wars movie that is STILL
not opened in parts of the world. Ubisoft is quite the same, they take alot
of time releasing their titles. F1RS was still sold at 50$ in the shelves
while MGPRS2 could be found as an import for 30$.

I read somewhere (apologies for forgetting) that Toca 2 was
being "made over" to better suit the tastes of US gamers. The
makeover would include the addition of American tracks (I hope they
weren't referring to the "US" bonus track), new paint schemes for the
cars, and the replacement of Tiff by an American announcer! My
overall impression to this news blurb (rumor?) was that Toca 2's US
publisher (Activision) want to give the game a "Daytona USA" flavor.
Until I can remember where this information came from, take it
with a grain of salt.

Nigel Mansell RIP!
Looks like TOCA 2.1... doesn't appear to have any engine updates rather
just more tracks and cars.

No, thats not true, a slightly different Toca3 is coming to PC later, and
they say its going to be more of a simulation than arcade! Yes!!

So the cars will understeer then, I hope! The 'unlimited grip' front tyres
ruined TOCA2 for me.
And if they could give us a non-headcam driver's eye view (like most proper
sims have) that would finish it off nicely. I hated that cack gimick.

Ah-hem,
As the webmaster of the biggest Toca2 site (standing ovation with a
few scattered boo's) I happen to know that Codemasters is intending to
release TOCA: World Touring Cars for the PC at some point after the PSX
version, and even the announcement of it will probably not come any
time soon. The choice to separate the release dates, allowing more time
to develop the PC release, might bode well for additional 'realism' in
the PC version over the PSX version. They may be going for a separation
not only in release dates, but in many other areas too.
Not only that, but the addition of some North American tracks might be
an indication of the intent to distribute TOCA World Touring Cars
internationally right from the start.
More news as I get it :)
