Hi, I recently picked up the Logitech winman Formula Force wheel. It is pretty neat, but I'm still not sure if it really offers me much more than a regular wheel. The brakes on this setup are really really difficult to deal with in GPL 1.1. It seems more like an on off switch than a pot. I have so much trouble getting good braking forces into the car without locking the wheels that the game is almost not fun. I've tried CTFJ3 but can't get it to work. When using CTFJ the brake literally is either on 100% all the time or on at 50% when my foot isn't on the brake and at 100% as soon as I touch it. Isn't there something that I can do to make the brakes work a little more realistically? I've heard that the CH pedals are nice, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere here in L.A. I'm hesitant to do mail order because I may decide I don't like any of this and just drop major bucks on an SRC wheel. So I want to be able to easily take things back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Derek Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
Ordering the ch pedals is the best thing you can do, I also ordered them by mail. But in the meantime try to get ctfj3 to work, it really helps a lot! On the site of ctfj3 is an instruction how to set it up with a lwff. Read that doc carefully, if you still can't get it to work let me know. Andre

In the profiler, be sure to set the brake sensitivity to "LOW" - sorry, I'm in NT right now, so don't have it in front of me, but you can get to it from the buttons in the lower left corner of the Wingman Profiler. I'm having absolutely no problems with the pedals on my LWFF - yes, they take getting used to, but you *will* get used to them.
Yes, you will get used to them (after you replaced to springs in the pedal for stiffer ones). After a couple of days of practice I was able to brake fairly consistent. But since I bought my ch pedals, braking consistent is so much easier. In the heat of a race I often overbraked with the lwff pedals, not anymore with my ch pedals. Ok, sometimes, but then it's my own fault :) Andre On Mon, 6 Sep 1999 10:43:11 -0400, "Rick Baumhauer" >In the profiler, be sure to set the brake sensitivity to "LOW" - sorry, I'm >in NT right now, so don't have it in front of me, but you can get to it from >the buttons in the lower left corner of the Wingman Profiler. Derek- I'm in the same boat as you. I had tried the LWFF back at Christmas time but returned it because I hated the pedals. For the next 6 months I was kind of waffling between dropping big money a custom wheel or waiting for next generation FFB wheel or the M$ one to go USB which never happened as rumored this summer. I decided on the SRC unit and placed my order. The next day the 1.1 patch for GPL came out and was hearing raves regarding force feedback on RAS. About the same time I was reading threads on wiring up other pedals sets to the LWFF. I dug around the net and found the LWFF pretty cheap and ordered it. I have the Wingman wired up to my old pedal set and the setup is pretty nice. My SRC unit is due in any day now and for games that I want to use FFB I plan on plugging the Wingman wheel into the SRC pedals. Should be pretty easy, I think the SRC uses Molex <sp?> type plugs.
