With a Playstation emulator you can run Gran Turismo 1 or 2 on your PC! Check this link: http://www.epsxe.com/news.php After you download the emulator, you'll need to get the various plug-in's for video, sound, cd-rom, etc and configuring them can be a bit of a pain, as it's not very well documented, but the cool thing is that unlike the Playstation which can only display limited resolution (640x480 I believe) with your PC you can run as high a resolution as you'd like, use FSAA and the various other bells and whistles that a modern video card can support. Enjoy! "krollenhagen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:%QBvb.272697$Fm2.286883@attbi_s04... > Hello- > I am new to pc racing sims and newgroups. I am looking for a pcequivalent

I would do this if I still had my PS2. I sold it last year and have missed it ever since. Thanks for the info, Keith "Jay J" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:PfKvb.276041$Tr4.847640@attbi_s03...

Well you can buy Gran Turismo 2 for approximatly $15 US new, and used for as little as $10 US! The ePSXe emulator and plug-in's are free to download off the net... Thanks to rrevved for originally introducing using ePSXe and GT2 to RAS a little over a year ago. Hi, At the risk of jumping on the bandwagon... This thread was around in July 2001, so GT2 lovers have been looking for a PC version for a while. If you look at the pictures of the Porsche (er Ruf), you can see the effect of a 3d card filtering the original low res psx graphics. Its not really fair to compare with today's games, but it looks pretty good for its day. Also, the most variety of cars to choose from ever. Problem with the emulator as I recall was getting decent wheel control working. Never got that working well. Plays best with a joypad, unfortunately. Navigating the menus with a wheel and pedals is not funny! Finally for a pc title thats sorta similar, look for the little known jap title called Real Car Simulator. They made 2 versions that I recall. One based on Nissan and one based on Toyota cars. Never saw a completely English titled one. The warez copy I saw had an incomprehensible controller setup (Japanese) so I could never get it working well with my wheel. Never ever saw it for sale, so I don't know where you could buy it. Well I'll be damned Istoff, your right! ePSXe has been around for more than 2 years now! As for control... I've gotten my LWFF (old red wheel style) to work, but your correct that a gamepad is the way to go. In fact I picked up a PS2 to USB converter called SuperPSJoy that lets you connect your PS2 Dualshock controller to your pc via the USB bus, it even supports force-feedback/rumble effects, and makes games like GT2 and the PC version of Toca Race Driver much more playable. Cheers! Jay J "istoff" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Let it be known that on Sat, 22 Nov 2003 04:44:43 GMT, "krollenhagen" <[email hidden]> wrote: >Hello- >I am new to pc racing sims and newgroups. I am looking for a pc equivalent >to Gran Turismo for PlayStation. > >Does anyone know of a good game to start with? Try Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. It is a little old, but is still a good game. It has a lerge number of cars (although all Porsches), and a few different game modes for variety. The only problem is that there are not that many courses, and none of them are real world courses. (the courses they do have a very long and very beautiful).
