Disappointing control elements obviously not in Nascar 3

After viewing the screen shots (Joystick/Wheel setup screen)I am saddened to note that reverse gear is still a Keyboard or Joystick selectable option rather than down shifting through neutral. And there is no clutch pedal in Nascar 3. That just about shoots N3 in the foot for me. It would have been so easy to add in. -- Redline Race Controls http://www.wave.co.nz/pages/lakewood/Redline2.htm Nigel of Lakewood Motorsports Hamilton New Zealand

On 1 Sep 1999 10:20:41 GMT, Why would no clutch and the reverse gear thing 'shoot N3 in the foot'? I guess I don't understand. I usually look for far more in sims I race. -- * rrevved at mindspring dot com * http://www.cabal.net * http://www.sputum.com

Clutch would be possible, but i have to say, one of the most annoyinf aspects of papy games is to have to map an extra button on yoru wheel to reverse rather than some other cool function shortcut. Z. Please remove NOSPAM from my email address when replying.

Was with you up to "rather than some other...". Care to try again but in English? :P M

A clutch, maybe, but in a standard 4-speed NASCAR transmission you can go straight from any gear into reverse- how would making the *** sequential like a CART car add to the realism? -- Scott Moore Sports *** Network [link lost in import: /***.com] Offline Sim Racing Headquarters [link lost in import: /***.com]
Papy games? Mms, GPL doesn't have it mapped.

Sad thing is, this really isn't much different from N2 or NR99, unlike GPL's underlying driving model, yet its going to sell loads of copies just because it has "NASCAR" slapped on it. Sad.

Why is it sad? Sierra/Papyrus needs to make some profit after giving us GPL. What is wrong with that? -Tony

I can't find the post from Zonkie so I'm replying to him not Meiji. I've used Nascar 2 since it was released, and reverse is something I almost never have to use. I have it assigned to a key on my keyboard.. I mean if I'm so messed up I need reverse, I'm probably already reaching for the keyboard to flame someone anyways :) (j/k I use flame retardent chat)
