Says he wants to race Indy 500 again, speculation or true you think.
Oh he definatelty wants to race Indy again. Anybody who thinks he doesnt is
insane. Wether he will or not remains to be seen. I think he will even if its
only a one race deal like Tony Stewart does now.
Chris
He will "definately" be at Indy next year. Like the other poster
stated, it may just be a one race deal. The racing 'journalists' are
trying to connect Al's name with the open seat in the #28 Winston Cup
car. But you can bet...no announcements and certainly no contracts
will be signed until Al's divorce is final. sometime this fall.

Man I sure hope he does make the jump to the IRL...
He'd get to run Indy, would most likely end up in a top flight car, and
would be able to challenge for the series championship (something that the
uncompetitive Penske chassis hasn't been able to do with ANY driver in the
past 3 years)
Plus, it would be a BIG boost to the much maligned IRL.... Too bad that
series gets such a bad rap from the press, as their races are very
competitive and exciting!
IMO....
I honestly think the IRL sucks but I would be a fan if Al does make the
jump. I can't believe how quick people are to say he is washed up when
everyone knows the Penske chassis has been a piece of ***since '95. Did
everyone forget how bad he kicked ass in '94? He didn't forget how to drive
after that season. His conservative driving style may not earn him another
'94 type season again what with the balls to the walls maniacs in the series
now. I prefer the CLOSE racing of years gone by. Not the death defying feats
performed in most of the races today. Is it really skill or just plain luck
that wins nowadays ?
Just my .02 cents worth.

Little Al has also driven a 99 Penske Lola without any success this
year. As for the death defying feats as you call them,I prefer to call them
outstanding driving. The cream of the crop are vastly superior in talent to
what Cart had back in 1994.

Joel,
Don't want to really get anything started here but as an Unser fan I just
get tired of people saying he is washed up. On the Lola subject, who has had
any consistent success with it this year? I don't even remember who runs
one. Looks like the Honda/Reynard/Firestone is the hot ticket again. I bet a
lot of teams are going to jump to it next season. Gotta follow the leader or
you get left behind.
