I have:
PIII 600
Voodoo3 3500
LWFF
I can only run GPL at 640 x 480. Anything else locks up computer when
quitting or when trying to view replays.
Any suggestions, other than getting a good video card?

Get rid of a file in the gpl folder named glide2x.dll ......
Gone....been gone since I uninstalled/reinstalled everything. Still have
lockups running in anything but 640 x 480.
Any other suggestions?

That includes a new rasterizer (???) for V3
cards.
But don't you have one now? (seriously, not sarcastic)

You dont need that.
I have a P2 400 with a Voodoo3 2000,
and with everything on max, detail slider on full+, i get a solid 36fps running
in 1200x1024, and i dont use the 1.1 patch.

Sorry Rick. You don't get that framerate at 1280x1024 in a race.

I have installed v1.1. What is the name of this rasterizer, and the file
date? Is it rasd3dfx.dll, dated 5/13/99, size 163,328? That's what's in my
GPL directory, after installing v1.1.
Regarding my comment about getting a good video card, I was being sarcastic,
as it was suggested elsewhere that my problem was I didn't have a TNT2. I
have to live with this one....
but I still can't run in anything but 640x480 without lockups.

Hmmm, why would you say that?
My choices go all the way up to 1600X1200.
I leave it on 1280X1024......are you saying that in a race the game automaticly
changes the resolution? then changes it back? or are you saying that higher
res choices really dont work?
Lemme know please!

I think what Ed was referring to was the solid 36fps at that resolution. I'm
running the card in a PII 350 /w 256MB of Ram and at the resolution and
detail level my fps die (< 26 fps) as soon as I'm in traffic. 50MHz isn't
going to make that much of a difference.

Right, I noticed that after I posted. At the time I made that post, I only had
the DEMO, so you see why I wrote that-- no other cars!!
I have the full version now, and at 1280x1024 with mirrors on cars and track
only, the detail slider in the middle, and everything else on max, with 10
opps, i get no less than 32 fps at the start, and a solid 36 fps when
everything is moving. I tried 19 opps at the same res and it got down near
25-26 min fps.

Hehe..now that makes sense.
