I just got a new Logitech Formula Force Wheel and installed it.
Unfortunately, Win95 and 'the profiler' refuse to detect it. I've messed
with all the settings and reinstalled it twice, but can't get it
detected. When Windows starts up, the wheel will move like it's being
tested, and when I reinstall it, Windows will find it, but then not
detect it. What should I do?? I really want to start playing with FF.
Help! Please!!!

what version of the drivers/profile do you use? if its not 3.20,
download the newest version from http://www.wingmanteam.com/.
do you connect via USB? if so, you should check out
http://www.wingmanteam.com/Latest_Software/Win_95_Patch/win_95_patch.htm
I also found the messageboard on that site sometimes helpful ...

If you are trying to use the USB connector, it won't work under Win95. If
you are the serial port connector, try upgrading the Logitech controller
software and see if that helps.
Do you already have another game controller, such as a joystick? I had to remove
all existing controllers, then add the Logitech, then add the joystick. If the
joystick was added first, the game controller for the Logitech would always say
'not connected'. This is with Windows 98 by the way, and using USB for the
Logitech.

55 dimes) and almost got it working. I have upgraded the software, and
use the serial port (com 1) for the wheel, since I have Win95 - I do
have the patch though for USB under WIN95 (it also does not work). I
didn't have another controller, but the tech and I got it at least
recognized in 'Game Controllers' - but it says 'NOT CONNECTED'. I've
done almost everything I can think of short of reinstalling Win95. I
just might have to do that to rule out a defective wheel. Thanx for the
help guys, if anyone else has any suggestions, I'd be more than happy to
hear them...

Happened also to me yesterday, when re-installing the wheel on Win98.
Since I didn't want to stay with the retail-drivers, I installed the
3.20 update, and voila: it works.
Don't waste your time with the CD-drivers.

with 3.20 - I GOT IT AGAIN.
Have the wheel in USB-port.
After a total fresh installation (Windows and everything else) there
was no detection at the USB.
After a lot of swearing I got it running at one USB.
The other still don't work.
I'm quite sure, there is any conflict with interrupts or addresses or
so. System (in Control Panel) doesn't show any conflict.
Anybody knows what's going on?
My system:

After next >boot SBPCI16 is found and added. Windows starts up. Self calibraton (the >wheel will move like it's being tested) of LTFFW take place. Everthing >works.Well, I've had the wheel working for a couple days now, after repeated
attemps with tech support (on my dime!), we finally got it to show up in
the 'Game Controllers' setup. Still, it said 'Not Connected'. That got
me thinking. Ok, it wasn't a hardware problem. (It wasn't defective, I
didn't think so anywayz) So, it must be software. We had reinstalled the
'Gameport Joystick' driver with the tech guy, and that had brought me to
this point. Since it was an older version than what I had had, the next
logical (well I thought anywayz) step was to put a newer version of that
driver in. Where could I get that? Reinstall DirectX 6.1! Yes, that's
it! I did that, really not expecting it to work, and it did! Now it
works without any problems. I'm now enjoying it immensely with GPL,
Toca2, Midtown Madness and others...I don't know if will help for you,
but I would give it a try even if you reinstalled Windows.

I followed the steps
described in http://www.logitech.com/de/support/3512.html
The problem in my case was an registry entry in the RUN section as
written in the link above. Funnily enough it was the Logitech entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
...
"Lwinst Run Profiler"="C:\\Programme\\Logitech\\WingMan
Profiler\\Lwtest.exe /detect /quiet /launch
\"C:\\Programme\\Logitech\\WingMan Profiler\\Lwpevntm.exe\""
...
After deleting this enty everthing works fine. The Luncher has to be
startet manually, if needed.
If not allready done, try
http://www.logitech.com/de/support/formulaforce.html
and follow the steps in document 3510 for USB.
Hope it helps you too.
Dieter
Good idea, I'll try to reinstall DirectX6.1.
Thx
