GPL/Voodoo3 Question

Hi: Just got a Voodoo3 3000 AGP, installed it, and fired up GPL to see how it worked. Having heard all kinds of good things about the card, I was disappointed in the frame rate, which leads me to believe that I may be doing something wrong. Until now, I've been running the Rendition version, using the Hercules 8Mb Thriller AGP, and I find that the performance was noticably better than with the Voodoo3 at the same resolution (800X600). With the Rendition I was getting about 28-30 FPS at the start of a Spa race, while with the Voodoo 3 it was in the 22-24 range. This is with the GPL patch installed, and the latest 3dfx drivers. Has anyone else compared the performance of each of these cards in GPL? Is it normal that my framerate should be better with the Hercules or is there something else I should be doing to improve it. I'm running a Pentium 2 300 overclocked to 337. Thanks, Rob
