So like I'm spanking races and punks with my superfine Miata and keep
winning different rides. Subaru WRX first; umm, an ok car but stats
aren't anything glowing vs my pimped out Miata. Then I lap some more and
the game gives me a low fat riced Nissan Sentra. WTF?! If I wanted to
win crappier cages I'd just stick with the rolling brat GTI Golf.
Come on, why the hell does the game shell out lesser skank haulers than
what's currently in the lineup?
Dumbass game designers.
Does anyone have a Teen Lanquage conversion guide?
I seem to be a bit out of touch...

Turns out Miata will be one of the faster cars. RX7 and Skyline
are fast too, but on some tracks the Skylines gearing is awkward,
like at Market Street, there are a few spots where rpms are too
high for one gear, and too low for the next. RX7 does a bit
better there.
At level 3, the 206 seems to corner the best, and a lot of
top players use it on tracks like Olympic.

Perhaps they thought you should have been able to win races without souping
up the Miata.

Quite simply, the Miata is one of the best cars in the game, and the best
of all the 'starters' by far.

Well, actually you can. The AI "handicap" themselves based on which car
and which performance mods you have installed on your car. In addition,
the catch up mode is on, and it's easier to deal with this with a slower
car.

Ah... didn't know that. Anyway, perhaps I didn't get it across correctly,
but I was trying to say the developers could have assumed the player would
win those cars earlier in the game, before his own car could run rings
around them.

I too played with the Miata and from time to time I would browse the
TRADE IN cars but I could never see any performance variances based on
the model of car. It was purely a visual thing - or so it seemed.
Even all my visual mods transfered to the new ride - I was figuring
they would be car-specific and I would have to start all over with new
mods if I bought a new car. As it was I ended the game with a whole
lotta cash and nothing to spend it on. I suppose I could have gone
and bought every color neon, body panel, and spoiler but what's the
point. My biggest gripe is that I maxxed out my rep around race 80 so
none of my upgrades for the last 30 races really mattered. I was
getting lv3 gear but my unique gear had already bumped me to the max.
Here's a question. I was going to experiment and never did but on the
challenges where you earn a unique piece of equipment - do you get
different equipment based on the difficulty level you do the race at.
I did the first 30-40 races on hard then did medium all the way up to
101 and finished the last 11 races on easy just cause I was so bloody
tired of the whole game.
I really like this game but racing over and over and over in the same
city on the same track variations for 112 races got pretty annoying.
At least Hot Pursuit offered up some variations and Midnight Club II
moved you around to different cities. I also missed the checkpoint
races where you got to plot your own path. You could tell NFS:UG had
a fully modeled city so they should have opened it up to plot your own
course.
Of course my BIGGEST gripe is that this game could have been the new
Motor City Online if they had fleshed out the online aspects.
Tricking out your ride and hanging out in the "underground community"
would have been the perfect setup for online racing community.
