Saw to my surprise that Creative Labs is making owners of the SBLIVE pay 9
pounds (= $15) for a driver upgrade
to Liveware 2.0. see www.sblive.com. Anybody done this? Is it worth the
price?
thanks,
Johnny Crash
If you want the full version of the drivers you can buy them, they have a
lot of extras that most of us wouldn't use.
I only downloaded the free 2.0 version from their website.
Works OK

No no Johan, you did misread the page....you can download the
drivers, it is on the right side, a 5mb download. You only have to
pay when you order the CD. BTW, I use them, and they are much
better, now with 20 hardware accelarated channels instead of 8.

Hhmm, I guess you got it wrong: Liveware 2.0 and the 2.1 upgrade are
available for free download (you have to register an address though).
But is a huge download with over 22MB, as it's not only the driver,
but lots of IMHO unnecessary software and gimmicks.:-(
So they sell a CD with some extra stuff also, and promote it much
better than the small link to the download pages.

BTW: I've got an SBLive Value with Liveware 2.1 under NT4.0 SP4, but
it is dead:
"Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available,
or the hardware is not responding. (Error=80040256)".
But the soundcard works well when I boot Win98.
I've tried everything I can think of.
Too bad, so I can't play GPL under NT (no sound and no
joystick/wheel), and not online under Win98 (network does not work).
