LS,
I just installed a soundblaster live in my system but GP2
- does not recognize it in automatic setup
- it cannot be set manually to the correct values
The conclusion is now that I am running without sound.
Does anyone know a site with SB live drivers for GP2 or any other solution ?
Kind redards,
Herman Reintke
You cannot run it in plain dos with sound. Run it from Windows95/98 and all
should work fine at least mine does! Make sure you have Creative SB16
Emulation driver installed!

Your autoexec.bat file needs to have the following lines in it:
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H1 T6
SET CTSYN=C:\WINDOWS
C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\SBLIVE\DOSDRV\SBEINIT.COM
SET SNDSCAPE=C:\WINDOWS
Of course your exact folders may be different but the important thing is
that you are loading the SBEINIT.COM program.

for a time everything was OK. Now I get an error message stating that my SB
emulation driver (Version 3.07) is not loading. What do I need to do to have
the driver load again. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you CAN run the Live soundcard from DOS because that's what
I do when I run ICR2 Rendition. As long as the SBEINIT program is loaded,
DOS programs can use the card just like any other.

recognize the SB Live and locks up the computer. I have tried to install MANY
times, always with the same result. It runs nicely with no sound but it just
isn't the same. (Yes Ed, I have moved on, but it sure would be nice to have
GP2!)

installed ( they require EMM 386, which I don't have installed) GP2 runs
fine under Win98.

settings for the sound card?
IRQ 5 was the normal irq for sb16's, so I force my SB Live to use that IRQ.
In BIOS, you should have a setting to reserve IRQ's for ISA legacy devices.
Both systems I have used my Live in are Award BIOS's so I set IRQ 5 to
legacy rather than PNP and the Live then grabs it for DOS emulation.
I haven't tried it on GP2, but it did work for the other DOS programs I
tried (ICR, ICR2, NASCAR Racing, Aces of the Pacific, etc.)

Mine worked fine until I changed my motherboard and CPU.
Now I'm having the same problems. No sound in either DOS or Windows.
And Yes, I have emulation running, and I have gone through all the
different settings in DOS. In Windows, If you choose a different
setting, it results in a system hang ........
Cheers.....Ken

Sounds like you need to look at the IRQ settings in the bios. You can
indicate which IRQ's are left alone by pnp for use by ISA devices. Reserve
IRQ 5 for ISA and setup the sound card to use that. Hope that helps.
