Hi,
I just got a G400 and want to join the GPL community (I didn't buy GPL
yet knowing it only supports Glide out of the box!). I have heard
about D3D & OpenGL patch for this sim. And anyone could share me his
experience??
Thanks!

Actually GPL supports software, Rendition and Glide out of the box. There
is an OpenGL beta rasterizer from www.papy.com that you can try. However,
it was only tested on TNT cards (it does work in most cases on TNT2 cards
too), however considering that the G400 OpenGL ICD is not the best in the
world your mileage may vary.
There is no D3D rasterizer for GPL at this time.
there was matrox g200 rasterizer somewhere! i don't know how well GPL run
with it but you can try it on your g400 anyway.

Yeah thats right, I think it was called XGL200(diretX GLide g200),
I'll try it out on my 2nd machine with the G200 as soon as I get my
case PSU back.

If you are that keen go get yourself a cheap V2 somewhere. GPL itself
is pretty cheap right now.

There is and it works.. well let's say OK.
about medium textures) but it is a beta version, so there are some bugs.
Most annoying ones are, that the pit board shows 'dummy pit board text' or
just a few rows of letter A's. Also the racing line is unusable.
I don't know if also the speed of the menus with 10 sec delays also is due
to this setup.
You can get the rastrizer from at least :
http://www.matrox.com/mga/drivers/patch_demos/patches.htm
http://www.the-fastlane.com/patches.htm
The OpenGL system doesn't work on my machine. The menus are black and the
program seems to crash when the race should start. I have the latest Matrox
drivers (5.13 I think they were) that should include the final version of
Matrox OpenGL ICD, but no.
Dunno about the G400 though, but I guess it is worth while testing. If you
end up testing this, could you please give some results to the group. I at
least would be very interested in G400 with its speed and environmental bump
mapping.
