I've read a lot of posts regarding the fact that GPL was a lot
slower/connection speed wasn't that good since the patch was installed.
My question: does it also affect other games? I have other games that I
play online and the connection is not as fast as it used to be: my main
example is Team Fortress Classic (Half-Life): it so damn slow. Maybe
it's a coincidence?

Half Life multiplayer was and will always be very slow, because Half
Life isn't too good with the multiplayer aspect.
The patch for GPL should have no effect on any other games, no.
