GP1 - SBlaster 16 PCI problems

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I have recently bought a Soundblaster 16 PCI card for my PC and everything works fine with it except for GP1 (Yes I still occasionally play it!!). GP2 works absolutely fine (I am running them both via Windows 95). The problem with GP1 is that the sound is completely wrong i.e. the car engine sounds wrong and when you crash the car the sound is completely wrong. It sounds like it's playing the wrong synth sounds (as far as I'm aware the game doesn't use any samples) or that the MIDI voice mapping is up the creek. Does anyone have an idea what's causing this 'cause I haven't got the foggiest idea!!! Thanks. Mark.
