where can we mail you, man? i'd like to contribute some cash towards your
efforts as a show of appreciation. GPaL jack turned me down because he is in
a monastary or something, but surely YOU will take me up on it, eh?
also, how about a show of hands....
who would pay $20 for each additional track for GPL? just curious. i think
that it would be a steal. people do it all of the time for golf sims, right?

I don't know about $20. But 5 or 10, sure, if I like th track. Why not
make it shareware, people pay what they feel it's worth?

This may upset a few people, but here it goes:
Why doesn't he make the EDITOR he uses available as Shareware?? Paul Hoad
did this with the GP2 Track Editor, and the result was LOADS of great tracks
from many, many editors (just look at www.grandprix2.com)! And Paul made a
lot of money for his work too - at least he got $20 from me! ;) What's the
point of keeping the editor for himself? Just to make a lot of money?? I
worked for around 500 hours creating CART tracks for GP2 with Paul Hoad's
GP2 Track Editor last year, and newer got a single penny for that...
The least he could do is to share the information he's got with the GPL
Track Editor project, so that they could get their editor finished before
the end of NEXT millennium! Remember: A working shareware track editor would
be worth much, much more than just a few new tracks. I promise! :)
Ciaoooooooo! ;)

I assume you're talking about Dave Noonan? The Brands Hatch
guy? Keep in mind he doesn't necessarily have a full blown
editor. He probably just spent lots of time hacking in a
hex editor and this was the result. Perhaps he has some odd
little utilities that he has programmed to help him, but
nothing that you or I would be able to use as an editor.
Give the guy some time and maybe he'll publish what he's
learned about the file formats.
Personally, I've had my fill of hacking with GP2, and I
won't participate much, but yes it would be exciting to see
what other people make!

No, no upsets here, Roland, but here's why we don't have a track
editor...there is no such thing! David has a host of home-written utilities
that helps him do his work, he's spent years researching all this, and if he
were to just dump all of this stuff out, it would take people quite awhile
to figure out how to use everything, and all the time going back to David
and asking "how does this work?" "how does that work?". We are working
towards the future for GPL, N3 and other such Papy stuff, and hopefully we
will see a track editor. But it won't be soon.
Cheers!
