I'm starting to wonder myself.
Randy Cassidy explains when GPL 1.1 will be released
Users asked whether the GPL 1.1 patch would ever appear. Papyrus's Randy Cassidy answered 'yes' and then 'when it's ready', listing the remaining steps: feature completion, localisation for six versions, testing, packaging and posting. Posters thanked him for the honest answer, and he later stressed that the patch's release was unrelated to Jack Rambo's GPaL utility.

I'm sure it will. It just seems like forever when you want it real

Just watch out for Jack Rambo's GPal. I bet they are released within hours
of each other.

When?
I guess that one word says it all. :)
When it's ready. Which includes, but is not limited to, when it (a) is
feature complete, (b) has been localized and built for the 6 versions
that we produce (French, German, Italian, Spanish, UK, US), (c) has
successfully passed testing, (d) has been converted to a downloadable
patch executable, and (e) has been posted to our web sites. It has
entered stage (c) (with some of the readme11.txt still at stage (b)).
If any issues are found during testing, it will need to go back to
stage (b).
So, when, exactly? I don't know. If I did, I would tell you.
Randy
Thanks.
Now, we know a bit, where, how and what. :-)

I'm certain that there are many GPL users who would volunteer to
participate within stage (c) .
I'll help out with stage (b) (German), if needed.

"late". I appreciate knowing that it is not imminent, but also not,
hopefully, too far off into the future.
Hopefully you and us in r.a.s. will be spared at least a few dozen "where is
the patch?!?!?!?!?!?!" posts.
Marc.

>Yes.
Last time I checked GPal the release date was moved from May 31 to
June 7. So that tells us something then about the release date of
GPL1.1 as well :-)
Projected ofcourse, but still, not far away anymore.

hmm, June 8th is my birthday. 1.1 and GPal would be a nice B-Day
present ;-)

It's less than 365 days until June 5th, 2000. There is only an outside
chance of seeing GPL 1.1 before that so don't put your hopes down
quite yet.

The release of GPaL and the release of the GPL 1.1 patch are in no way
related.
